It’s all about loud, bright colours this spring and one of the easiest ways to embrace the trend is through vibrant make-up looks. We break down some of the ways you can recreate the trend at home, from a statement neon eye and bright blush to reflective lips.

1GLOSS IT UP It might sound counter-intuitive, but bright make-up works best when paired with a more subtle lip, such as a nude gloss.

This trend plays down the pigment of your lips without turning them colourless thanks to the reflective sheen of the gloss formula. You can give added dimension to the look by using a medium to dark brown lip liner to line your lips, before applying nude lipstick and a clear gloss.

From simple rosy cheeks to a sun-kissed look along the mid-face perimeter and nose bridge, there are a few ways you can approach blush application. If you want a lifted appearance, apply your blush with a softer hand and at the top of the cheekbone, working it upwards and outwards instead of on the apples of the cheek.

3NEON LINER If you want a truly eye-catching look, neon eyes are the way to go.

From a simple cat eye to a cut-crease or geometric design, everything looks a little more dramatic when bright, neon eyeliners are involved. For extreme pigment pay-off, start your eye look with a white eyeliner, which will serve as the base. Create your design as desired and then trace over it with your chosen neon shade, with the finished product far more bright and striking as a result. Complete the look by applying your favourite mascara and a white or nude eyeliner on your lower waterline for added brightness.
