New & Cool In Curaçao Stay, Play, See & Do Tips
Aquafari Curaçao
New to the beautiful island of Curaçao? Here are some travel tips to get you started. First off, take a tour. Downtown Willemstad is a treasure trove of culture and history all easily explored by foot, but many cool attractions are scattered all over the island. So go exploring with the new Touracao Tourism Services – the island’s best tour operator – so as not to miss anything. Next, explore some marine life. Ocean Encounters are the new managers of Animal Encounters, where you can submerge to handfeed sharks and sea turtles. They also go to all the best dive and snorkel sites. And Substation Curaçao has a 4-person sub that goes down 1,000 feet below! They are part of Seaquarium Park, where you can also swim, snorkel and dive with dolphins. If that’s not enough, brand new Aquafari (pictured above) is an underwater scooter that allows you to explore 30 feet below while breathing normally! Pietermaai, a hip, new neighborhood full of restored 17th and 18th century mansions, is a must-visit. Stay at lovely little boutique hotel PM78 Urban Oasis and enjoy cool hangouts
like Mundo Bizarro, Ginger and Kome. The metamorphosis of old to new there is incredible. For delicious local fare try Primas in a gorgeous restored plantation house, and the new Royal Dutch Cheesery is also a must-try. The new Curaçao Blvd. complex is also full of fun new eateries, and L’Aldea – an Argentinean grill in a manmade rain forest – is a great option as well. Where to stay? Kura Hulanda’s iconic hotel has just become a Sonesta Flagship property where you can enjoy unique history and colonial charm. For families, Sunscape Resort Spa & Casino is all-inclusive and definitely delights. And the Avila Hotel is still the Grand Dame for history and beachfront rejuvenation. But for the seriously upscale, the new Baoase Luxury Resort is the exclusive choice. Though it’s tough to cater to every kind of traveler, the new Santa Barbara Beach & Golf Resort (formerly the Hyatt) does a good job of it. Avid golfers, tennis buffs, beachcombers, yachties, couples, singles and families alike, will all find it a perfect place for an unforgettable holiday. And their Shore dining room sets the culinary bar very high. Visit: www.Curaçao.com AUTHOR NAME
