How do I successfully mix floral and striped patterns in my home? Many people shy away from mixing patterns, but with the current trend for combining stripes and florals on the catwalk, we’ve put together a few tips so that you can try the style with confidence in your homes. Decorating with stripes and florals allows you to balance the bold nature of stripes with the softness of flowers. Pattern mixing is successful when you consider scale. Really skinny stripes and really big flowers look out of place, like chunky shoes with an evening gown. When your patterns are of similar proportions, they should mix more easily and your eye is better able to distinguish the individuality of the patterns. If you want to create harmony in your room, choose stripes and florals in similar colours and repeat those hues throughout the space. Come and visit us in our showroom, to see designers like Manuel Canovas, Jane Churchill and William Yeoward combine the style successfully in their collections.
