Q I have a lovely bay window in my sitting room, but find it difficult to find tracks or poles that will suit the shape or work around corners. Can you help? A Bay windows can come in all shapes and sizes, so you will need a track or pole that is specifically bent to the shape of your window. There are a number of tracks and poles that can work around corners - but be careful that the product you buy will cope with the requirements of your curtains. Some plastic tracks are flexible enough to hand bend to the shape of your bay, but these can be flimsy and the sliders don’t work well around the bends. Bay poles which use “C” shaped rings to slide past the wall fixings, have a tendency to “snag” and won’t draw easily. We recommend Silent Gliss aluminium tracks and metropoles (a pole with sliders hidden inside) which are pre-bent to the exact size to ensure a perfect fit, and are guaranteed for 5 years. An alternative way of dressing bay windows is to have blinds which cover the front and sides of the bay, with dress curtains to either side. This can help to reduce the amount of fabric needed for large bay windows, and can also suit those windows with radiators beneath. We offer a free measuring service for all types of windows, including bays, and will happily advise on the best window treatments, whatever the size or shape.
