Positive Planning

Using this book

This book will help you collect and think about ideas for writing. Use it to: Write the paragraphs in a grid

Draw a storyboard

Some ideas to help you plan

Write down interesting words or phrases you find; in books, comics or magazines, that you can use in your own work

Think about things you have read in other books; or seen on television or films – change them so they are suitable for your own stories, poems or plays

Remind you of different ways of planning to organise your writing; for example, instead of writing down your ideas, you could use a storyboard. Draw pictures to help you remember people, places and events

Find small pictures to stick in the book to help you with descriptions of characters and settings

Record unusual things that you have heard on television or in a conversation (sometimes you can hear funny things at the supermarket, in shops and in the playground)
