Improving our community... one gift at a time

Together We Can All Build a Better Community One Gift at a Time

You are the builders. Your gifts enable us to make charitable grants that build a better community. Create or add to a fund. Fund a scholarship. Support our work. Together, we have all of the tools we need!

ESTABLISHING A FUND

A great way to make a lasting impact and fulfill your charitable goals is to create a fund with the Suffolk Foundation. The Suffolk Foundation is a publicly supported philanthropic institution governed by a board of private citizens chosen to be representative of the public interest and for their knowledge of the community. A community foundation administers many individual funds contributed or bequeathed to it by individuals, other agencies, governments, corporations, and other sources. The Foundation encourages and helps donors achieve their charitable giving objectives.

SCHOLARSHIPS

The Suffolk Foundation is pleased to announce that it has 13 scholarships that it annually awards. Applications are usually available on the Foundation website, suffolkfoundation.org, after February 1st of each year, with the deadline being noon on the last working day in March. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.

GRANTS

The Suffolk Foundation is interested in engaging in charitable grant-making to benefit the people of the City of Suffolk, Virginia, and the surrounding area. It is the intent of the Suffolk Foundation to assist in maintaining and enhancing health, education, arts, culture and humanities, public and societal benefits, human needs and services, environmental and animal welfare, and youth and elderly programs in the City of Suffolk and surrounding areas through the support of qualified non-profit organizations.

The mission of the Suffolk Education Foundation is to support Suffolk Public Schools by connecting the community’s talents and resources to expand educational opportunities for students and staff. With the commitment of the community, our public school students will develop their full potential, ensuring that Suffolk will continue to thrive and proper. A community’s quality of life is directly tied to its education system as it prepares tomorrow’s citizen leaders and professionals. The SEF was founded in 1993 as a 501(c)3 charitable organization. Since our beginning, the board has been actively developing a variety of fund-raisers to increase donations. Our hard work ensures that students and staff have the ability to receive college scholarships and instructional grants each year, in addition to reaping the benefits of special projects in STEM education, staff development, and more.
