What does the course involve? Under the support and guidance of a team of specialist Art & Design teachers, students will study and work in well-equipped studios. Students will visit art galleries and museums and other places of interest throughout the course, which will provide primary source starting points for art based work. Students will cover the following topics: • Investigating Artists and Designers • Visual Arts Briefs • Graphic Design Briefs • Painting Briefs • 3D Briefs • Creative Project in Art and Design, personal response to a set theme externally assessed • Recording for Creative Intentions externally assessed

Can I take additional qualifications? Whilst students study at Level 2, at One, they have the opportunity to retake GCSE English and Maths, which provides a good grounding to go on to a more advanced course such as the Level 3 UAL Extended Diploma in Art & Design or Media Production at One.

What do I need to join the course? Students will be asked to show a portfolio at interview. Preferably prospective students will have attained a level 3 or above in a creative subject. Sylvia Gambo

How will I be assessed? You will complete a range of projects and assignments which will be assessed via portfolios of work. An overall grade is awarded at the end of the course following assessment of two Externally Set Assignments. What are the costs? There are no charges to study on this course; but you will be asked to contribute to the cost of colour printing. Art packs to provide sufficient sketchbooks, canvases and MDF boards for the year will be available at the cost of £17.

Students should budget for trips to galleries and museums in order to gain maximum benefit from this course. These will take place once a term and we aim to keep costs around £10. What do I need to join the course? Students will be asked to show a portfolio at interview. Preferably prospective students will have attained a grade 3 or above in a creative subject such as GCSE Art. What is the course duration? One year
