CPAT The City Property Advisory Team
The City Property Advisory Team (CPAT) is based at the City of London Corporation, in the City Surveyor’s Department. The team is also linked to the Department of the Built Environment. We have a wide remit that involves working with occupiers, developers, investors, agents and utilities companies, as well as other property stakeholders such as retail businesses and inward investment bodies. All our services are free of charge and confidential. We can: • Provide the widest range of details on available property in the City and City Fringe • Help with planning, highways, and legislative issues • Unlock bureaucracy • Identify long term development potential • Help with site assemblies • Assist on infrastructure matters e.g. electricity and telecoms • Liaise with other departments at the Corporation on your behalf • Promote and co-ordinate delivery of projects on behalf of businesses/developers Commissioned research informs our understanding of the complex issues affecting the UK property industry. We share this valuable knowledge through reports, discussion forums, and other events.

Occupiers If you’re looking to bring your business to the City of London or want to move to a more suitable City workplace, CPAT can help overcome hurdles and provide you with free advice, guidance and information.
We have helped many businesses find workplaces in the City and City Fringe and you can benefit free-of-charge from our property search service, market knowledge, contacts and on-going assistance. If you have a short-list of properties or have found a property, we can provide advice on matters such as planning permission, telecoms options, power supply and highways issues, which will assist in your decision-making process, or a successful move into your new premises. We will also make sure you are kept up-to-date and informed about projects that might affect you, such as road works, development sites and major events in the City. Property Professionals Property Owners, Developers & Investors The team works closely with property professionals to facilitate development in the City, and ensure the right buildings are provided to suit business needs.
We seek to meet those organisations with an active interest in the City to identify critical issues and represent your interests at the Corporation, working with the Department of the Built Environment and other teams, to ensure you get the timely support you need. Infrastructure Providers Utilities & Telecoms We are constantly looking for ways to improve the City’s utilities and telecommunications infrastructure, which is the essential backbone of the Square Mile, supporting the needs of City businesses, workers and residents.
The Square Mile is serviced with vast networks providing electricity, water and gas, all of which are in the process of being upgraded. CPAT has provided support to the development of UKPN’s business plans, including making representations to the regulator Ofgem, to upgrade the City’s electricity network to provide greater resilience and capacity for businesses.

A new HQ for Nomura requiring agreement from the City Corporation on a number of critical issues to allow the business to commit to occupation of the building. Co-ordinating delivery of electricity to the building in time for occupation. Working with UK Power Networks to bring power over Southwark Bridge.

A listed building on the river, home to international law firm Berwin Leighton Paisner. Co-ordinating a package of measures to enhance the built environment, including removal of graffiti, enhanced public realm, and improved safety and security.
