5G Technology And Everything You Should Know About It Now after 4G Technology, it is the surge of 5G Technology which is expected until 2020 and several companies are investing to prepare for the wireless standards of the new mobile series. Here we discuss 5G Technology, how it works and its impact on the future wireless systems.

What is 5G Technology? 5G technology refers to the next and upcoming mobile wireless standard which is based on the IEEE 802.11ac standard of broadband technologies, though a formal standard for 5G is yet to be set. With respect to the 5 G white paper of the Next Generation Mobile Networks, 5G connections should be based on ‘user experiences, the performance of the system, enhanced services, business models and management & operations’. According to the Groupe Speciale Mobile Association or GSMA, to get a license for 5G a connection, you should meet most of the below-mentioned criteria: ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦

1 to 10Gbps connections to endpoints in the field 1-millisecond end-to-end round-trip delay 1000x bandwidth per unit area 10 to 100 x numbers of connected devices About 99.999 percent availability About 100 percent coverage 90 percent cut in the usage of network energy Up to 10-year battery life for low power, machine-type equipment

We know that 3G has been a real development in communications. 3G receives a signal from the nearest phone tower and is applied for phone calls, sending SMS and data. 4G works are the same way as 3G only with connectivity and a lower concealment. 4G appears to be about five times faster than 3G services and theoretically, it can offer download speeds up to 100Mbps. Hubert Da Costa, the VP at EMEA, Cradlepoint stated that Wi-Fi connections with 5G Technology are supposed to be about three times faster than 4G, that starts with 450Mbps in single-stream, 900 Mbps (in dual- stream) and 1.3G bps (in three-stream). So, as it is expected to provide huge growth in IoT and smart devices, 5G’s speed and capacity would enable an even faster arrival of this connected future.

Advantages and disadvantages of 5G Technology

5G is expected to be faster than 4G, with higher productivity and with a theoretical download speed of about 10,000 Mbps. And with the greater bandwidth, you can get faster download speeds and the ability to run more complex internet apps on phone. But, 5G is supposed to be very expansive and while the newest devices will probably have it integrated, other handsets would become outdated. A reliable, wireless internet connection can base on several devices connected to one channel. With the addition of 5G Technology to the wireless spectrum, this could risk due to overcrowding the frequency range.

Future of 5G Technology As 5G is yet in development, it is yet not open for use by anyone. But the news is that several companies have started creating 5G products and initiated field testing them. Notable advancements in the new technologies are from Nokia, Samsung, Qualcomm, Ericsson, and BT, with growing numbers of companies developing 5G partnerships and with a promise of investment to continue the research on 5G Technology and its application. Qualcomm and Samsung have focused their efforts on hardware, with Qualcomm developing a 5G modem and Samsung manufacturing a 5G enabled home router. Both Nokia and Ericcson have designed 5G platforms aimed at mobile carriers instead of consumers. Ericsson developed the first 5G platform previously this year that claims to offer the first 5G radio system. Ericsson started 5G testing in 2015. Similarly, at the start of this year, Nokia launched “5G First”, a platform that aimed to offer endto-end 5G support for mobile carriers. Paul Gainham, a senior director, SP Marketing EMEA at Juniper Networks, told to reporters that though the networking industry is working towards making 4G universal, they need to futureproof the 5G Technology, which perhaps couldn’t be deployed until the years 2019 or 2020 at the earliest. In continuation to that, he said that the mobile vendors would need to develop the network infrastructure and the end user devices like new 5G capable handsets. To mention the biggest technological challenge ahead of the industry would be spectrum availability. After the recent craze for 3G, and 4G now it is the 5G Technology. Let’s wait and watch till it comes and create several technological revolutions in the world of men. With this we conclude, hope the piece of information was helpful to you.
