She made her Test debut in Lucknow in 2002, against England. In the latter part of that year, she registered the highest individual women’s Test score of 214 in Taunton against the same opposition. She holds the record for being captain of a national team in a second most number of WODIs.

In domestic series, she represented Air India and played for the Railways since the year 2006. Mithili Raj was awarded the Arjuna Award in 2003 and was bestowed with Padma Shri in 2015. With an average of 51 in both Tests and WODIs, Raj has scored 6 international centuries and got dismissed five times in the nineties. She previously became the second female cricketer to surpass 5,000 WODI runs. Raj also has the record for the most consecutive fifties (7) in the WODI format and has scored a total of 63 (50s) in the international cricket. With approximately 8,400 runs to her credit in international cricket, Raj is India’s highest female run scorer in all three formats.
