The Shiv Sena’s Rajya Sabha lawmaker Sanjay Raut has initiated on a journey to make a biopic on the party founder Balasaheb Thackeray, a politician who could control Mumbai and had millions of devoted followers and his share of critics too. The right-wing leader stood for the idea of “Bhumi-Putra” is to be brought alive on screen by a Muslim actor from Uttar Pradesh. With Nawazuddin in the role, the filmmakers say that he will do justice to it and can successfully meet the challenge of playing the role of one of the most enigmatic politicians of Maharashtra. Nawazuddin said that he would put his best and even said how he’s picked up Marathi. Through a video release, Siddiqui told the audience in fluent Marathi. He said that he would like to say with confidence that he’s inspired by Balasaheb and have his blessings. The actor is known for his acting prowess, was chosen to play ‘Balasaheb’ after a tedious selection procedure. Several Marathi actors were in line, but finally, Mr. Siddiqui was chosen for his acting skills. There were some leaked pictures of the screen test which shows Nawazuddin Siddiqui perfectly appearing like the late leader’s look. Today, when the teaser got released, everyone is acknowledging that Mr. Siddiqui has got the look of Bal Thackeray perfectly. For Siddiqui, life is a big circle. The actor had to take a back step out of a Ram Leela event this year owing to objections by a local Shiv Sena leader in UP, a move which senior leaders of the party criticised, though.
