Vancouver Public Library Exterior This Coliseum-like public building was designed to make it both beautiful and easy to use at the same time.
2b
Vancouver Public Library Atrium The inside of the library is unlike other libraries – you don’t have to be quiet everywhere. The glassed-in indoor plaza is a great place to meet.
2c
Yaletown Shops Once a rundown warehouse district on the shore of False Creek, Yaletown began its transformation in the late 1980’s. Now, it’s a trendy downtown community made up of residential towers, offices, restaurants, boutiques and cafés. The elevated loading docks with their cantilever canopies now house restaurant patios, and the perfect place to watch passersby.
2d
False Creek view of Yaletown Yaletown was once home to empty warehouses, but it’s hard to imagine that now. Yaletown has been transformed into luxury lofts, cool boutiques, and fine dining restaurants. It’s a very funky area with brick streets, raised patios and perfect people watching.
2e
Granville Island & False Creek On this tiny not-really-an-island is a university, public market, artist studios, arts theatres, water park, restaurants & hotel
2f
Granville Island Public Market You can pick up all kinds of luscious fruits and veggies here. Fresh seafood, sausages, local B.C. produce, hot meals & more!
2g
Kayaking toward Burrard Bridge False creek isn’t really a creek, it’s actually an ocean inlet. Thus, it’s a very popular spot for dragon boating, kayaking and rowing. Non-paddlers enjoy getting around by Aquabus mini ferry.
Mountain Excursion
Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, Lonsdale Quay and Grouse Mountain Skyride • Begin at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver 3a at West Georgia and Burrard St. • Turn right along W Georgia to Granville St. • Turn left on Granville and continue north to Waterfront Station • Inside Waterfront Station, head to the back and take the glass tunnel to the Sea Bus terminal. • The Sea Bus takes you across Burrard Inlet to North Vancouver. • Turn right at the Sea Bus terminal exit to reach Lonsdale Quay 3b a family friendly public market – a great place to grab some lunch
and fresh snacks. • Catch the public transit bus to Grouse Mountain. The buses leave right from the exit of the Sea Bus terminal.
Time: 5 - 6 hours (includes return time to downtown)
• Once at Grouse Mountain, catch the Grouse Mountain Skyride 3c and enjoy the view from the aerial tram.
END: Grouse Mountain
• From Grouse Mountain there is a great view of Vancouver, plus lots of great activities in the summer and fantastic skiing in the winter. Right: The green copper roof of the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver stands out against the city skyline.
What to Bring: sweater and jacket, sensible shoes, camera, back pack, change for the Seabus and transit bus. START: Fairmont Hotel Vancouver
