Storage Resilience SOCIOTOPES , SINGAPORE Density Map

Msc. Integrated sustainable Design NUS Design Intent - The studio brief was to design a masterplan for North Singapore which is resilient to the forces of Urbanisation and Climate change in future. In 2050 it is envisioned that North Singapore will emerge as a second CBD due to migration from Malaysia and will have to face Food security issues and cllimatic changes like Sea Level Rise etc. Design Proposal - The design proposal tries to propose a typology where the built environment is part of the landscape and vice versa. It was realised that to be resilient not only infrastructure but society needs to be resilient as well and to promote this we came up with the idea of Sociotopes. Sociotope is a framework which combines Naturetope with Human tope. So the green corridor was designed as a connecting spine around which Sociotopes were developed with a view to strengthen the social structure of the society.

The concept: Integrated Building and Landscape

The mall has a roof top garden with a swimming pool and is also connected to the lesiure area in the adjacent tower on this level itself. On the top of the tower is a destination restaurant that is accessed by a funnel shaped space which has mirrors all around it which allows natural light to go deep down to the atrium of the building.

View corridor to Shiwalik Mountains

My Role Location Area Site -

The Vision -

Design conceptualization, presentations. Mullanpur , Chandigarh India 4,35,600 sq.ft builtup area. The 5 acres site is located in a prime location of the city with very close proximity to the Shiwalik Mountains. It is a special site as in winters the mountains get coverd with snow and are a delight to watch. This project is special because of its location. It is located in the northern province of India called Punjab which is famous for its agricultural farm Lands. The site faces a mountain range called the Shiwalik mountains whis is an extention of the Himalayan Mountain Range. The area attracts a lot of tourists and is very near to a metropolitan city Chandigarh, so obviously the reqiremnt was to design a modern building, luxurious apartments overlooking the mountains, ofďŹ ces + mall that would cater for tourists and modern population of the area. Therefore the main emphasis was to design to have a full view of the mountains from every side ehich also explain the form because the form is a reection of the actual view corriodor that the site has towards the mountains.

The framed entrance is another great feature of the disign where the entrance gateway forms a framed view to the mountains for everyone standing at the entrance doors of the mall.

My Role

-

Location Area The Vision -

Design conceptualization, architectural design, 3d’s on sketchup , presentations and Submission Drawings. Vasant Vihar New Delhi , India 1000 sq yards This project is a Residence for a family of four in the posh area of Delhi. The family wanted a unique setting with grand open spaces and vastu to be a major input in the design. So the house was designed with a central water feature covering a whole length of the First Floor and glass blocks as the external elvation feature to give it a elegant and sophiticated look.

Ground Floor Plan

Sketch view of water body

First Floor Plan The concept of design was to have the whole of First Floor Level as a water body and all the upper floors looking over it. Since Delhi has a composite type of climate it gets very hot and harsh in Summers. So having a water body at the base cools down the entire space and helps reduce the HVAC requirements around the building. Moreover water is one element thet defines the human connection with nature. The design has stilts for Parking and Reception on Ground Level , water on First Floor , Living and Dining on Second Floor, and accomodation on Upper Floors.

An Internal Lift connected with bridges serves the vertical circulation. There is also a Basement Level which has the clients office + Home Theater.
