a|911 is an independent practice of architecture and urban design founded by Saidee Springall and Jose Castillo in 2003 and based in Mexico City. Both Saidee and Jose studied architecture in Mexico City and then obtained their master’s degrees at Harvard’s Graduate School of Design, where Jose has been a visiting professor for many years. Currently he’s the Chair of the Department of Architecture at Cornell University.
Their award-winning projects include the Spanish Cultural Center, the Elena Garro Cultural Center, the García Terrés Library and Café Laurel. They are currently involved in large-scale master plans focused on hospitality in the Cabos and Mayan Riviera regions as well as various multi-family housing projects in Guadalajara and Mexico City.
