Take geometric control lines of the church, and close the surface at the end of the roads.

Take the direction of the damaged city wall as a control line, define the second volume.

Using a ramp to connect the two volumes, creat ing a city-to-nature narrative.

Take the column grid of the church entrance as a modulus, apply it to the new structure.

The plaza space is divided by par allel control lines perpendicular to the surrounding building façades, thus defining the proportions of the new building volume, in harmony with the proportions of the buildings within the historic area.

The building volume is defined by a control line perpendicular to the main entrance of the Palazzo D’Arco and the arch on the east side of the square.

In the end, we used these control lines to generate three volumes that define three square spaces: a public activity square, a campus activity square, and a semi-private square.

POETRY OF WATER INTEGRATED DESIGN IN VILLA ADRIANA

2021 SUMMER

The project is located in Villa Adriana in Tivoli, Rome, and is divided into three parts: landscape, architecture and visual design. Water, as an im portant element, is used in the design, among which, the building is part of a thermal bath.

Of Villa Adriana

Villa Adriana is located in Tivoli, on the east side of Rome. It is surrounded by crops and residential areas.

The diagram shows the location rela tionship between Villa Adriana and the surrounding important buildings

River Aniene connects Tivoli from north to south and Villa Adriana, to providing water for it.

42 Context

Landscape Generative Axes Landscape Infrastructures

The hotel, restaurant and parking lot in the area were planned, and the ancient city gate of Villa Adriana is reused to form a whole with the landscape.

Using different waterscape settings, the landscape corridor and the water ele ments of Villa Adriana are connected as an integration.

The agriculture, olive planting, cypress and rural grass in the area were replanned as part of the landscape prom enade.

Landscape Nodes

Through the three landscape nodes of Antinno Square, Macau Tower and Tourist Center, a land scape promenade connecting the external road and Villa Adriana is formed. Antinno Square, as the entrance to the landscape promenade, refers to the water features of Villa Adriana. The observation tower serves as the visual center of the entire land scape promenade, and at the same time, the visitor center also combines circular geometric elements and water elements. These three nodes form a se quence of landscapes in which visitors can feel the atmosphere of ancient Rome.

STEPPED LAND BREWERY FACTORY RENOVATION

2019 WINTER

The unique structure and materials of this workshop are a kind of art integrating history and architecture. The aim is to make a new spatial form through stairs and ramps in order to let people experience the history of this beer factory more easily. Meanwhile, with the entry of new activities, it will be able to attract tourists from all over the world in the future, thus having a positive impact on the revival of the whole historic area.

TIME n

AN URBAN MARKET BASED ON TIME AND SPACE

2019 SUMMER

Time is the 4th dimension existing beyond 3-D.In this design, we aim to apply time to the design of architectural space. Through the intervention of time, the functional density of architectural space is increased. Differ ent people will be able to use the same space at different time, which can not only solve the urban density explosion caused by the rapid urban renewal to some extent, but also enhance the communication between the residents of the new and old cities.

High-rised Residence

Old Longtang

The site is located in Shanghai Fuxing Middle Road. There are many old Shanghai alleys around the site. After the hall was gradually demolished, high-rise residential buildings and high-rise office buildings and various commercial complexes are built. There is a sharp contrast between the old and new buildings.

Include multiple functions in one space

Space = Volume x Time

Redefine the concept of space by adding a time dimension to the volume. Through the design in the time dimension, the functional density of the same space can be increased, that is, the space is given a variety of reasonable functions in different time periods, so that different groups of people can use the same space in different activities. Converting the high density in the original urban expansion to the high density in the time dimension is conducive to solving a series of problems in the city.

GUILD TO PARK REGENERATION OF THE HISTORIC TOWN

2018 WINTER

The old town with the history of Ming and Qing dynasties as the main part of Yangzhou contains rich cultural landscape and cultural relics. In recent years, with the acceleration of urbanization, the old city gradually derailed from the new city, resulting in a series of problems such as the lack of public space and the decline of vitality of the old town. On the basis of this, we aim to design a Community Park in Si’an Guild area with a sentient and thermal mode of city ‘update’, trying to create more com fortable environment for the surrounding residents.

Planning Generation

First, divide the buildings in the site into several parts.

Reorganize the boundaries to make it more complete.

The new building ex tracts the roof form of the surrounding ancient buildings and recombines them to be presented in harmony with the surrounding historical buildings.

Use steel structures which are easy to as semble and can be recycled if necessary in the future.

Increase the entrances to makeit easier for residents to reach the park and contact the new and old town.

Add various activities space and facilities that are needed for the park.
