How to Revise for Your Exam. It has been a while since we all have not attended a class in person, even though the conduction of online classes are being carried on, we still lack motivation for studying. This is a hard time for the mankind, but we must not forget to keep practicing and exercising our brains in order to restrain our skill, for not keeping up with abilities we have, may cause us to lose the skills. For example when you don’t go through your notes once in a while you may lose the detailed knowledge that you may have had before the pandemic. It is easy to say that you will be able to catch up on it but let me tell you that it is far away from a reality unless your brain has some unique ability than those of the other human beings. Some of us may have our online exams going on or some may not be aware of the time when the examination would be held. Whatever situation you are in, you are likely to find these revision techniques useful in some way. Let us get started with the tips!

Creating a doable revision schedule – Often we put way more study tasks onto the revision timetable than we actually can complete. Remember to create the timetable only when you are in a neutral mood so that you do not end up with a bunch of undone tasks later on. Write a priority list, ranking the subjects in a descending order according to their exigency. Then divide their subtopics through the five days in the weeks. You may find it suitable to focus on only one subject in a day or may want to learn different materials for the day, do what works in your favor. Remember to keep some time out for going through the materials which you are

currently being taught by your teachers. Take two days off for other activities. As this keeps up your level of productivity and prevents burnt outs. 

Organize your notes – After creating the timetable/schedule get onto to the work of gathering your study materials from different courses and subjects. Separate them following the syllabus instruction (chapter wise mostly) and write down any topics or units which may yet not be done. Organize the notes and study materials to move on to the next step.

Learn and test yourself – Our study techniques differ from person to person. In this subtopic we shall understand what way is easier and more effective to getting that desired score. Use two hours in a day to make questionnaires from your notes, this helps to make you aware of the divisions of different topics in a chapter or a unit as a whole. You will know which topics are to be concentrated more upon. When you finish learning the notes test yourself randomly from the previously prepared questions in any hour of the day and see whether you can recall the answers or not. This method of studying is called active recall; this is used by many students from Harvard, Cambridge and many other top performing universities.

Solve past papers – This is a known method to all. Practicing or reviewing questions from the past papers provides you with an idea of what kind of questions may be given to you to be answered in the examination. After completing a past paper you may want to refer to the solved answers’ text book or the mark scheme. Doing this will let you know what should be your answer structure like.

Following these revision tips or techniques will help you to be better prepared for any upcoming examinations. A point to be noted is that you must regularly attend the online classes and stay connected with your teachers for any latest news on schooling and examinations.

No pain no gain. It is my honor to be writing about this person, who in all terms teaches us that nothing is impossible if you truly want it and most importantly work for it. Personally I have been inspired by her almost every day as she happens to be one of my close friends. Faheema Nasheeta Rahman, a teenage girl who is the owner of Nasheeta’s Photography and Photo Phactory. She too has a YouTube channel dedicated to making music covers, which goes by the name Faheema Nasheeta Rahman. She has made herself learn how to play various instruments like guitar, drums, keyboard and Cajon without any profession help. Her memory muscles may be thanking her for all those efforts! Only at the age of twelve her music journey began, by the year 2016 she discovered a new hobby, photography which she said that she likely got it from her dad and uncle. Nasheeta irrespective of being involved into many things at once, she too takes her academics very seriously. Therefore she definitely had a hard time maintaining her schedule. To the question ‘How do you manage to keep up with your different passions all at once?’ she answered ‘usually a normal human being cannot stick with something same all the time. Hobbies can change but in my case it is not that. I have separate schedules for everything I do and am interested in.’ Every battle of self-doubt was fought by her yet she transpired with her family to win the battles. ‘I would like to thank my family and consider myself to be lucky to have their support. I love my family the most,’ said By Nasheeta during the interview. Often we give up after many failed attempts but to Nasheeta these were the reasons she stuck to keep trying. The negativity send to her for not being perfect couldn’t weigh her down. She worked until she started receiving appreciation for her work and efforts. What message does Nasheeta have for the people who are on the path of practicing? ‘Being a part of this youth I would like to share a quote which keeps me going, ‘Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world – Harriet Tubman.’ This wonderful untold story of Nasheeta teaches us the silence Excellency of patience and true passion. Once unlocked the silent power of these two unleashes the fruitfulness in one’s life. May 2020.

Bake it till you make – A tale of prospect. Allow me to introduce to you the woman who puts a smile on her customers’ face and makes their special occasional sweeter; bringing to you the interview with an ordinary baker who has ordinary super power of learning something until its perfect. Afisa Diya the founder and owner of ‘Delicacies by Diya,’ bakes cake and other snacks. She first discovered her liking towards baking and cooking at the year of 2014. Back in those days having a WIFI connection at home was not common, being a student it was hard for her to purchase net packs to watch and learn baking from videos in YouTube; she too had no proper equipment and baked sponge cakes using her mother’s micro oven. Despite such circumstances she kept practicing and learning. Afisa shared with us her initial feelings on starting her business by stating, ‘I was positively persuaded by someone significant to turn my passion into business. As I did not have access to an electric oven for years, nor any professional training, my initial fear, self-doubt and insecurity were

conspicuous for not being adequately skilled to start the business. However, I overcame the fear thinking we all must start somewhere and learn from experience to grow. Thus, the journey of “Delicacies by Diya” began on November 4, 2018.’

To the non-entrepreneurs the hardships of handling a business alongside with your studies may go unnoticed. Even though Afisa is an organized and punctual person, she too had to sacrifice a lot of fun time to make it where she is today. Quoted by Afisa, ‘I vividly remember taking an order while my semester final examinations were being held. There were times when I struggled to reach classes on time despite being an extremely punctual person as I had to wait for my customer to reach at the stipulated pick-up point.’ To this date she still teaches herself ways for better time management. Following her passion for baking has taught her many things in life; patience, mechanisms for coping with stress and self-image issues, power of good communication and most importantly having the right mindset, ‘ I tend to enjoy each and every incident whether I come out successful or not. Like one of the most charismatic leaders Nelson Mandela once said, “I never lose. I either win or learn”,’ written by Afisa. Afisa shared with us a piece of her mind to encourage the youth by stating, ‘I feel enormously delighted to see several teenagers familiar to me to chase after their dreams and passion from a tender age. I would like to take out this opportunity to tell them that they should never consider themselves as less if they fail to perform excellently at academic activities. The future of the nation should focus on believing in themselves and loving themselves to an extent where they can identify their individual goals. Also, it is absolutely alright to struggle to determine the career paths in this phase of life. Instead of delving into depression and hesitancy, they should open up to themselves at first, and discussing their insecurities with someone they rely on. By doing so, they can get a grip on themselves and ascertain what they truly love doing. As teenagers are susceptible to being consumed by self-doubt easily, brushing up their knowledge and inexpressive skills through plenty of extra-curricular activities in which they find interest in will shed light to the way they should follow. They should remind themselves that human beings who are genuinely generous, resilient, wise and confident are an asset to the world, and that is exactly how they should aspire to be.’ May 2020.

Have you ever wondered where your clothes come from? What exact materials are they using? Whether your money is actually digging a grave for you? To be honest I never gave that a thought too until recently when I discovered a TED TALK by Amit Karla. Not that the things he said weren’t familiar to me but I realized I never took the matter of fashion creating pollution seriously. In schools we are taught about every kind of pollutions from air pollution to noise pollution, we are even taught the things or actions that cause these but why aren’t our text books including the pollution caused by fast fashion? Fast fashion is when the trends from the runway are regularly being produced in mass to meet the unlimited demand of consumers. The demand is caused by the low prices. It may take a long time before this situation can be changed. But how can you help yourself and the world? Simple buy clothes made from materials which are eco-friendly, think very carefully before investing on a trend and reuse fashion items. Coming to the main topic, you may not be able to or be willing to buy new clothes for Eid because of economic depression in the world, or simply because you want to save up some money for the unpredicted future situations. Whatever it may be I have gathered three looks for you to get some idea on how you can look and feel your best this Eid without having to buy any new clothes!

No New Clothes for Eid. Look one – I am guilty for having no sense of sustainable fashion and purchasing georgette dupatta. Now that I have learned about the damages it causes to the nature I have decided not to purchase this material’s items anymore but I do want to make most out of my previously purchased dupatta. So for this look I have reused all of the items made with materials which are not sustainable. White Kurta, blue denim jeans and the georgette dupatta. Reuse till it wears out complete

Look two – Here for this look I have worn my 100% organic cotton kurta and paired it with my white jeans. To top it off I added colorful earrings. This organic cotton may be the most used item from my wardrobe. It’s comfortable and the design matches my personal style. This look will keep you comfortable for the entire day.

Look three – Saris are my all-time favorite and this one especially because it is my mother’s. The material is organic cotton again so it’s perfect! Wearing white makes you feel less hot and it also makes you look more graceful. An Instagram worthy look!
