Lecture Hall Complex IIT Hyderabad
Lecture Hall Complex IIT Hyderabad
Project Description
The Lecture Hall Complex sits at the junction of two primary pedestrian movement paths. It is designed as an iconic structure to give an identity of place and scale to these pedestrian plazas. The brief comprises of 15 auditoriums of capacity ranging from 60 to 800 students, housing over 3200 students when fully occupied. Circulation plays a very important factor in the design. A wide pedestrian street cuts through the building at two levels with halls arranged on either side. This central spine opens up on both sides to a pedestrian plaza, inviting students to walk into the double height corridor. A network of ramps and staircases makes the movement within and into the building an “experience. Curved walls emerge from the ground and bend over the halls, thus creating a seamless integration of various volumes without making them seem in disharmony or massive.

Master Plan for the New Town Development Denchi, Bhutan
Master Plan for the New Town Development Denchi, Bhutan
Project Description
The ‘Master Plan for the New Town Development at Denchi is based on the themes, concepts and ideas that define bespoke planning and urban design principles. It linked the urban planning with ecological sustainability, growth in national intellectual capability and national wealth creation. In essence, the Master Plan proposal was not in any way meant to be a final plan of Denchi but on the contrary, this proposal was meant to initiate detailed dialogs between various “actors” who would be instrumental in determining the future of Denchi. A Master Plan will emerge from these dialogs. Location: Bhutan Site Area: 0.47 Square Kilometers Client: DUDES, MoWHS, Royal Government of Bhutan

(Competition Project)
Pune International Exhibition And Convention Centre Moshi , Pune, India
Project Description
Pune has been described as a “thousand suburbs in search of a city”. In the entire metropolitan region there is no Central Business District like Connaught Place, Flora Fountain or Chowranghee Road. There are scraps of intense commercial activities here and there with no proper parking, pedestrian movement and mixed use! The proposed World Exhibition City is an opportunity to create a metropolitan “CBD” in the PimpriChinchwad- Pune Metropolitan Region. The project envisions around twelve million square feet of saleable space, twenty- four thousand car parking bays, a Metro station, a Gateway, an internal mono-rail and underground parking pods serving six Urban Villages. A lake with a Marina, a large Pune Eye Wheel, a world class exhibition center, hotels and conference facilities enhance the project. Business, IT, incubation, financial and research activities occur in Land scrapers that float on stilts over low rise, walk-up “villages” where movement is pedestrian, cozy and convivial.

Project Description
This was a competition entry for a proposed technical University set up by the Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group ( ADAG). This University was to be set up on the outskirts on Bhopal and was a supplementary University to its campus is Gujarat. It was a planned campus being sustainable and ecologically responsible. Bicycles were the main means of transport whilst road traffic was minimalized. Essentially traffic was routed through the periphery of the site. The linearity of the site was highlighted by the creation of a plaza. This was the defining space linking zones, but diving the residential and academic areas

Lodha Belmondo Luxury Resort Living Pune, India
Project Description Spread over 100 acres of land, “Belmondo” is a residential scheme on the outskirts of Pune. This residential scheme was also the launch pad of the Lodha developers, a Mumbai based reality firm into the Pune market. The Approach to the master plan was a challenging task. Setbacks from the river and a 100m wide unbuildable swathe of land crossing the site perpendicularly negated the benefits of a large land mass. Effectively the unbuildable zones were transformed into a “Green” 9 holes Golf course dividing the site into two North-South stretching quadrants. The programmatic mix had units varying from a studio apartment to two storey sky villas. Besides this the client wanted the flexibility to adapt typologies to the changing market scenario! The approach was to make these towards look cohesive visually, but each would have their own identity. Three side open plans were employed, when their adaptation in Pune was restricted to only the “Ultra-Rich” market segment. The building core was the hinge about which these individual units were arranged.

Knowledge Centre
Azim Premji University, Bengaluru, India
Project Description
The university is to be set up on 79 acres of land located on the outskirts of Bengaluru. Promoted by the Azim Premji Foundation, led by Mr. Azim Premji, the founder of Wipro Technologies, the university sets to redefine the educational scene in the country. It seeks to achieve this revolution by targeting the teacher instead of the student. Thus the investment made in this would be replicated over the country, with the completion of each educational cycle. The strategic vision framed for the university states that “it will be an institution for learning that works to realize the potential of a just, equitable, humane and sustainable society where people leave in dignity, peace, harmony and well-being.” Knowledge centre, Iconic building and an instantly recognisable structure in the campus designed for a Library block is rooted in a radical approach − technically, architecturally, socially and spatially. G+5 structure, it provides 59000 square feet built up area. Generated by a circular plan, with a radial geometry, Hyperboloid diagrid structure distinctive form responds to the constraints of the site: the building appears more slender than a rectangular block of equivalent size and the slimming of its profile towards the base maximises the public realm at street level. The diagonally braced structure allows column-free floor space and a fully jaali facade, which opens up the building to light and views.

Geodesic Dome
In recent years, architects and engineers have searched for ways to conserve building materials and shorten construction time. One of these newer structural methods is the geodesic dome. Ninety-nine percent of the buildings we live and work in are rectangular or square in shape. But, rectangles and squares are not the most efficient structural shapes. The most efficient geometric shape is a sphere. A sphere uses the smallest surface area to enclose a given space. Since the majority of our building materials are in the shape of straight lines and flat planes, a true spherical structure is not very common. Geodesic dome construction, however, uses straight and flat building materials to form spherical-type structures.
