Can we design a new housing development in PJ Old Town that reaffirms the place of older adults in society as caretakers of the community, instead of being taken care of? Can the new development enhance the self-sufficient urban landscape of an old town to prevent its perpetual quality from perishing with its ageing occupants? And lastly, can the design of this multigenerational housing development be tailored to the safety of its residents, instead of for the convenience of cars, connecting it to the greater urban fabric?
This is an eco-urban housing development that aims to celebrate the perpetual quality of Petaling Jaya Old Town, a place that has grown hand-in-hand with the people that call it their home.
