In South Korea, almost every man is required to serve in military or alternative services corresponding to this. I did public service as a social service personnel for 2 years. I took a role on administrative affairs in Municipal Affairs Division of Yeongdeungpo-gu Office. It is a place where all the things happened in the district such as civil defense, elections, events, and etc. I helped numerous events and guided civil petitioners. I also helped arrange documents and papers.

Civil defense hold numerous practices such as education about security and disaster, civil defense system, life safety, experience and national practice, etc. Especially, In national practice, called Ulchi-Freedom Guardian, it assumes a wartime situation and organizes about 3,600 institutions involving administrative institutions and major organizations. It is a big practice that 41 million people attend.
Town community supports local communities with a helpful program in the village. And there are many businesses that the residents spontaneously are gathered and proceed to grow the village and make the village more attractive to live.

VILLAGE ADMINISTRATION
Local autonomy operates autonomous center that helps residents and holds varied events such as Hangang Yeouido Spring Flower Festival and many educations about computer or smartphone for the elders. And also it subsidies community organizations.
Village administration is in charge of tasks concerned jurisdiction administration and elections or manages CCTV. It also recruits part time job for college students and helps civil petitioners.

Conclusion In school, conversations occur only among classmates. For me, however, taking a role as a social service personnel was a good experience to learn social experience before graduation and a good chance to experience work which “follows the standard procedures.” And also it allowed me to practice how to explain problems easier to civil petitioner who is also my ‘customer.’
