THINGS TO KNOW NEW Options to Create a full day of fun at Camp Sunnyvale! Looking for full-time care from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m.? Camp Sunnyvale now offers three options to maximize the day so campers have a fun safe experience all in one location. Check out Traditional Camps, Combo Camps and the Extended Club Care sections to see how to extend the day.
Choose the Camp That’s Right for Your Child
Resident/Nonresident Status Any person with a home Sunnyvale mailing address is considered a resident. A Sunnyvale P.O. Box or business address will not be taken as proof of residency. A nonresident is someone who lives in another city. Proof of residency: Present one form of current California photo identification or utility bill, with customer’s name and Sunnyvale address to the Sunnyvale Community Center front desk. If your photo identification or utility bill does not have your current Sunnyvale address, then you will need to show two forms of identification with your current Sunnyvale address.
• Review all camp choices. Camps are designed to cater to specific age ranges. • Talk with your child to see what fits his or her interests. • Consider starting with a traditional camp, designed for specific age groups and offering the most variety of activities. • For specific interests or to add variety to your camper’s summer, check out the themed arts, STEM and sports camps. • To make a full day of fun, check out how to utilize our new Extended Care Clubs at three locations. See page 18. • For teens, check out Leader in Training or Junior Lifeguard Camps. • Register your child in several Sunnyvale camps for a summer of fun right in your own backyard!
We’re Only Human Sometimes changes happen: occasionally, modifications may need to be made to planned activities, excursions or curriculum. At the same time, changes may occur in location or the number of class offerings. Please read your receipts carefully. We will correct any changes in locations, times, dates and fees online, as well as alert you to any additional items that you may need for camps.
Emergency Card Requirement To participate in any City of Sunnyvale camp, all campers are required to have an online emergency card on file. The City of Sunnyvale has partnered with ePACT Network, to offer an easy to-use safe and secure system for families.
Camp and Swim Lesson Registration
How Do I fill Out an Emergency Card Online? After registration, the parent/ guardian will receive an email from ePACT Network (member.support@epactnetwork.com) to fill out the emergency card online.
Sunnyvale.ca.gov • 408-730-7350
• Register early! Many camps and swim lesson sessions fill up before their start dates. • Camps/swim lessons may be cancelled if there is low enrollment. • All registrations are taken on a first-come, first-served basis. • Mail-in receipts will be mailed. We will not call you to confirm your registration. • In-camp registrations will not be accepted at most locations. See Summer Express for exception (page 39). • See Procedures for more information (page 54).

Sunnyvale Splash Things to Know
Swim Lessons FAQs What level do I register my child for?
Pool Rules Pool rules apply for all aquatic activities held at any City of Sunnyvale operated pool. See bit.ly/SplashPoolRules for complete list of rules.
Read the skill level descriptions provided under each section. Register your child for the class that sounds most like his or her level. If in the beginner class, staff will test each child and group them with those of similar ability.
Swim Assessments
Why does the second week of each swim lesson session end on a Thursday? Every other Friday our staff are trained to help maintain sharpness of their skills, and is an extended Recreation Swim day. Swim participants receive a voucher to allow them to enter recreation swim for free on the extended dates. See next page for dates.
Swim assessments are conducted during Recreation Swim Hours from June 6 to July 26 at Columbia Middle School Pool and Sunnyvale Middle School Pool.
Pool FAQs
Does the pool close if it starts raining?
What is the pool temperature? All facilities in Sunnyvale are outdoor pools. They are heated to approximately 80 to 82 degrees Fahrenheit. Although the outside air temperature may make it seem cooler, the pool temperature is consistently maintained, regardless of the weather.
My child missed a swim lesson because he or she was sick or out of town. Are make-up classes offered?
No, unless there is lightning.
Unfortunately, make-up lessons are not offered for any reason.
Can I request a specific instructor for my child’s lesson? Sunnyvale Splash cannot accommodate requests for specific instructors. The instructors rotate between levels and times. The pool manager does not know who will be teaching the class until the first day of the session.
Are lockers and showers available? Yes, locker room facilities with showers are available at each pool for your use. Patrons must supply their own locks and towels.
What if I am not happy with the program? Let the pool manager know your concerns so that he or she can try to resolve the problem.
Are there any health restrictions? Persons suffering from infections or contagious disease and illnesses are not permitted in the pool or locker room. All patrons or participants must be diarrhea symptom free for two weeks before entering the pool.
