Occasionally, modifications may need to be made to planned activities, excursions or curriculum. At the same time, changes may occur in location or the number of class offerings. Please read your receipts carefully. We will correct any changes in locations, times, dates and fees online.

New Program Dates The deadline to use Fee Waiver funds for 2017-18 funding cycle has been extended to Sept. 30, 2018 (previously ended June 30, 2018). Applications are now available for the next funding cycle. Allow two to four weeks to process. Approved funds for the new cycle are available from Oct. 1, 2018 through Sept. 30, 2019.

SUPER SAFARI PRESCHOOL Super Safari is a play-based recreation program designed to provide children their first experience in a structured environment. Movement-Based Acting

NEW Children’s Theatre and Performance Step onto the stage and explore the world of 101 Dalmatians in this creative and engaging class. See the performance on Tuesday, 12/11 at 7:30 p.m. and Friday, 12/14 at 7:30 p.m.

Acting uses your whole body! This process-oriented class employs Anna Halprin’s Tamalpa Life-Art technique, similar to method acting, to help young actors discover and convey a character’s emotions. Class begins with a ballet-based warm up and meditative centering and incorporates modern dance, acting exercises, drawing, word play and other creative activities. No performing experience required. Chang Tai Do Karate

Learn basic proficiency, etiquette and terminology in a safe form of fencing based on Japanese and European techniques. Lay the foundation for proper footwork, stances, timing and offensive and defensive parrying by participating in games and bouts. Protective gear and uniform are required after first class and can be purchased from instructor.

Get introduced to proper stretching, basic blocks, punches, kicks, strikes and how to fend off an attacker. Develop coordination, mental focus, discipline, respect and selfconfidence with basic karate drills that release energy and prepare you for future development. Ballroom Dance

Work independently on your projects and enjoy the company of fellow intermediate and advanced potters in our spacious, fully equipped studio. No instruction is provided, but our master pottery kiln techs can provide technical assistance with equipment and firing advice. Purchase a one-time or multiple session pass in the studio or at the registration desk. Passes expire at the end of the 12-week term in which they were purchased. Tai Chi Chuan Exercise your body and mind with the slow motion, continuous movements of this traditional Chinese martial art. This is a mixed level class. The first and second parts of each class focus on stretching, fundamental stance drills and form movement combinations. Students are then split into small groups. Beginners work on eight- and 28-form short routines. Intermediate/advanced students learn more challenging techniques including 85-form long routines, form application, push hands and traditional sword and saber.

Diabetes Self-Management Program

Sunny Fit – Low Impact Helping participants gain independence in activities of daily living and increase confidence in exploring other fitness workouts, this entry-level fitness class includes low intensity aerobics, strength exercises using resistance bands and balance and stretching exercises. A PGA Class A member since 2007, Haeyoung Lee joined Sunnyvale Golf team in September 2017. He was on the New Mexico State University Golf Team for four years and actively competed in numerous golf tournaments. Throughout his golf club professional career, he developed a passion for teaching all levels of golfers. Prior to joining Sunnyvale Golf team, Haeyoung was the Director of Golf at Coyote Creek Golf Course.

NEW! PICKLEBALL Pickleball, the fastest growing sport in America. A fun paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong. Two or four players use solid paddles made of wood or composite materials to hit a perforated polymer ball, similar to a whiffle ball, over a net. The rules are simple. How Do I Request a Refund/Transfer?

Registration Opens Aug. 6, 2018 (begins online at 12:01 a.m.)

• Refunds may be requested by phone (408-730-7350), fax (408-730-7754), or in person at the Recreation Center. If submitting via fax or in person, be prepared to present a receipt. If submitting by phone, be prepared to share info from your receipt. Receipts can be printed online.

Waiting Lists • A waiting list is established if a program is full. • If a space becomes available, staff will notify adult participant or parent/guardian by telephone. • Payment is not charged until an opening becomes available. • If you are paying for multiple classes with one check and one or more classes are full, a refund check will be mailed within approximately four weeks. • Mail-in registrations that are received after program is full are automatically placed on the waiting list. Checks sent with mail-in registrations will be returned if space does not become available.

Cancellation Policy • Programs may be cancelled when the minimum enrollment is not met. Please register early. • If a program is cancelled, participants are notified by phone and given the option to transfer to another class or receive a full refund. Please note refunds take up to four weeks to process. • See refund/transfer policy for additional information.

Missed Classes If a class meeting is cancelled by the City, staff will make every effort to notify you as soon as possible by phone or email. Staff will let you know if there is a make-up class or credit will be issued. Please make sure your contact information is current so we can reach you. The City does not offer make-up classes or issue credits when individual customers miss a class for illness or other personal reasons.

Non-Participants The City of Sunnyvale does not allow unregistered individuals in the program space, except when family and friends are invited to attend youth performances or demonstrations.

Fee Waiver Assistance & Subsidized Program for Youth Fee Waiver Assistance: Eligible Sunnyvale residents may apply to offset the expense of class registration fees up to $234 for youth (ages 17 and under) per eligible family member, per funding cycle. Fee Waiver Assistance Program resources are limited and subject to the availability of funds. Subsidized Program: If preapproved, families can pay a subsidized rate and have access to priority registration on select programs during school breaks.

• Class refund and transfer requests must be received prior to the second class meeting for most classes and at least four weeks prior to the first day of camp.

To apply: Fee Waiver Applications are available at the Sunnyvale Community Center or online at Sunnyvale.ca.gov. Please allow two to four weeks for a response to your application. Any funds not used are forfeited and cannot be carried over to the next funding cycle, nor used for another child. See chart below for deadlines.

Encourage athletes to practice good sportsmanship

Keep the Heads Up Action Plan at all games and practices.

Remove the athlete from play.

Keep the athlete out of play the day of the injury.

An athlete should only return to play with permission from an appropriate health care professional.
