Loyalty Program Rhode Island After 25 years, the Ocean State makes its first appearance on the cover of our catalog! See Rhode Island and other east coast charmers on a new tour, “Small States by the Sea” on page 24, and visit Newport (pictured here), RI on “Cape Cod and More!” on page 22.

We’re happy to continue offering the loyalty program again in 2019. So, on your 2nd tour (of four days or more) with us in 2019, subtract $50 off your tour price. On the 3rd tour (of four days or more) with us in 2019, subtract $100 and so on. The more you travel, the more you save! (Program is based on the calendar year, so all eligible tours depart within 2019.)

From the back of the bus... What’s with the column title? Longtime Sunrise travelers will recognize the column title from the days when my dad, Jim, used to write a note to introduce a new catalog. It refers to his practice of sitting in the back of the bus on tours that he managed - which was all of them for their first 5 years in business! He sat in the back because real estate in the front is often in high demand, and he didn’t want to take a spot that would be appreciated by a thankful customer. While there are practical reasons that most Sunrise tour managers sit in the front of the bus these days, that spirit of putting our guests first that Jim and Charlene instilled in Sunrise Tours when they founded the company 25 years ago is as strong as ever. As we reflect on an amazing 25 years in business, we have countless memories, discoveries and triumphs of which to be proud. Make no mistake, we are also very much focused on the future! We never stop trying to find

ways to make travel easier, more comfortable and more fulfilling for Sunrise vacationers. We are always on the lookout for a great new itinerary, hotel, restaurant or cruise. Tour planner Caleb visited Florida to design a new “Florida’s National Parks” tour which will be featured in our May catalog. Veteran Sunrise tour planner Debbie will take her skills “on the road” with an extensive schedule of tour managing this year. Kansas City office manager Victoria can often be found at the airport in the wee hours wishing Sunrise travelers a pleasant journey; her job description doesn’t require it, but she wants to be there to make sure they have a good start to their vacation. Thank you for trusting us to be a part of your travel memories for 25 years, and we look forward to the next 25! Brent Dalrymple

Home Pickup included on select tours in 2019 We may be 25 years old, but at Sunrise Tours we are still willing to try something new to improve our travelers vacation experience. On a limited number of 2019 departures, indicated by the accompanying icon, a home pickup is included on the morning of your departure and a home drop off on the evening of your return. (Included pickup area limited to zip codes within approximately 20 miles of Kansas City; call to confirm your zip code is eligible). That’s right, a professionally chauffeured car or van will pick you up (including help with baggage) at your home to start your Sunrise Tour, and drop you off at home upon your return. On the 6 tours indicated with the “Home Pickup Included” icon you must choose one of three options by final payment date. No changes after final payment date. 1) Home pickup (one pickup address per room please) – included in listed tour fare 2) Provide your own transportation to the departure point on the morning of departure (you have permission to park there for the duration of the tour) – subtract $50 per person from listed tour fare 3) Spend a pre-night at the departure point hotel (you have permission to park there for the duration of the tour) – add $50 per room 4) Provide your own transportation to one of our stardard pickup points, listed on p. 47

Notes from the road...

In 2019 Sunrise Tours will celebrate 25 years in business and as part of our celebration, we have chartered two ships to cruise the Rhine River next spring. I recently scouted this trip to gather information for me and our staff, so Sunrise Tours can put on the best river cruise possible. Having toured the quaint towns, visited the historic sites and seen the stunning castle dotted scenery of the Rhine River, I can say I am truly excited for more than 250 of our travelers who will experience this trip next year! Here are a few of my impressions. The included excursions are a great way to experience a port. A local guide will greet you as you disembark to escort a group through the town while sharing colorful stories and history of the area. I am always amazed at how much a local guide can point out along the way that I would never have noticed on my own. It works well that each person has their own listening device so if you stop to grab that perfect photo, you don’t miss any of the commentary. Speaking of perfect photos, opportunities for those abound. Personally, I was taken with the town of Strasbourg. A bustling city center surrounded by quaint homes and buildings along the canals made for a beautiful walking tour that ended at the Strasbourg Cathedral, considered one of the finest examples of late Gothic architecture. You may want to try the gingerbread here! I had a fantastic trip and gathered a lot of great information to share. I’m confident the Sunrise Tours river cruises in 2019 will create many great memories for our travelers…watch for other exclusive Sunrise Tours river cruises in the future! Kristen Dalrymple

Typical gratuities for tour manager and driver are $5-$7 per person, per day. Trip Insurance We have always felt that travel insurance is an individual decision, and therefore have not included it in the cost of our tours. That being said, we strongly recommend that you purchase the optional travel insurance described within. This coverage protects you against many unforeseen circumstances that can occur when traveling. There are many reasons to purchase insurance, but the following are two main reasons we highly recommend the insurance offered by NTA/Aon Insurance. 1) Trip cancellation - If you are forced to cancel a tour for medical reasons (for you or an immediate family member), having insurance ensures a complete refund of monies paid (except for the cost of insurance). 2) Trip interruption – Unfortunately, there are circumstances that can prevent passengers from fully participating in a tour and may require an early departure or extended stay. For example, if a passenger suffers an injury which requires immediate care and prevents the traveler from continuing on the tour, insurance will cover the cost of the extended stay, the cost of transportation home and the value of the missed tour (subject to claim submission and acceptance by AON Insurance). If you do not have insurance, you will personally incur these costs. From experience, we can tell you that this can be very expensive. To purchase trip insurance, reference the enclosed info and call 800388-1470 or visit nta.aontravelprotect.com. You must use Tour Operator Location #256061 to purchase insurance for a Sunrise Tour. Pick-up points For each trip, we determine the pick-up points used based in part on the number of requests for each point. In some cases we will not utilize a point if there is very limited demand. All pick-up points allow parking for your vehicle. Sunrise’ pick up point partners offer the use of parking spaces during tour as a courtesy to Sunrise travelers. Neither Sunrise Tours nor parking lot owners assume responsibility for incidents occur-

ring to parked cars. You will be notified of which pick-ups we are using for your tour in a letter about 2 weeks prior to departure. If our routing allows, we may pick up along the way in outlying areas. Identification A passport is required on any tour that leaves the United States, including Canada. Photo ID’s are required on all fly tours and recommended on all tours. Singles Requesting Roommates If you would like to go on tour with us, but do not have a roommate for a specific trip, let us know and we will match you with someone else (same sex of course). Just let us know at least 60 days before departure and we will room you with another traveler at the double rate. If there is no roommate available on the tour you request, you will still only have to pay the price of a double. If you decline the roommate assigned, you will be responsible for the single supplement. Of course, if you prefer to travel individually, you can still sign up for the single fare. This offer is not valid on cruises, and some select tours. Method of Payments For deposits we accept checks or cash. For final payment we accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, check or cash. Seating on the Motorcoach Seating is assigned and will be rotated on a daily basis. Special seating requests are honored on the basis of availability. Paying the single fare does NOT ensure you will have a seat to yourself on the coach, it only ensures you a room by yourself. Responsibility Sunrise Tours is not responsible for any injury, delay, loss or accident due to any act or negligence on the part of any person or company rendering services on any of our tours. We reserve the right to change any itinerary. After You Book A Tour... After you have booked a tour and we have received your deposit, the following is a schedule of correspondences: 1) confirmation of deposit received 2) your final payment is due 45 days before departure for an all-motorcoach tour or 60 days before departure for tours involving air or Amtrak trains (please note you will NOT receive an invoice when final payment is due) 3) you will receive a letter about 2-3 weeks prior to departure that will include your luggage tags and important details such as pick-up times and locations, hotel phone #’s, what to bring, and a detailed itinerary (subject to change). Please bring this with you on tour. Pictures By signing up for and participating in a tour, you are agreeing to have any pictures taken on tour published in Sunrise Tours printed or web material. If you do not wish to have your picture used in any form by Sunrise Tours, please notify us prior to traveling. Maps The maps provided in brochure are general outlines and not meant to outline specific routes to be driven. We reserve the right to change routing on any tour. Last Minute Travelers We love adding last minute travelers! We are always happy to add you to a tour that isn’t sold out, even up to a few days before departure.
