About Sunrise Tours
e have enjoyed so many new travelers and added so many people to our mailing list the last few years, we thought it would be appropriate to introduce ourselves! Sunrise Tours is a family owned and operated company that was started by Jim and Charlene Dalrymple in the basement of their St. Louis County home in 1993 – although their first tour did not materialize until 1994. The company has grown steadily over the years, and
now consists of 15 fantastic employees and offices in St. Louis and Indianapolis. We pride ourselves on delivering extremely high quality tour experiences at a fair price, and we consider repeat Sunrise Tours customers our most important marketing “tool”. If you’ve traveled with us before, welcome back! If not, take a look inside this tour catalog and let us surprise you with an incredible Sunrise Tour.
Charlie’s Chatter
Jim and I have thoroughly enjoyed hosting Sunrise travelers on the three week stay in St. Pete Beach, FL and after such an incredibly cold and snowy winter in St. Louis in 2011, we think even more Sunrise travelers will want to “escape” winter with us in 2012! Your challenge will be figuring which option suits your style and time constraints for travel – how many weeks do you want to walk the white sands of St. Pete Beach (1-4 week options), do you prefer traveling by coach or air? Whichever option you choose, you will have a chance to get to know your fellow Sunrise Travelers at the weekly Sunday “Souper” Suppers and catch up on weather reports from home, get the low down on the best eateries and activities in the area and hear about the two excursions planned for the week. Check out the photos taken during this trip by one of our travelers on our web site for just a little more enticement! While visiting with a couple who are frequent Sunrise travelers at a recent travelogue, I heard a confession that made my day. This couple, who will remain unnamed, decided to take a trip to Sedona, a little town amidst gorgeous red rocks in Arizona, on their own. Upon their re-
turn, they added their costs, realized the wasted by: Charlene Dalrymple time and hassles incurred driving out of their way and the inconvenience of not being able to find a good restaurant until their last evening on the trip. Then they discovered they could have visited Sedona with Sunrise Tours without the hassles and for less money. This is probably a testimony I should get in writing! At that same travelogue another traveler approached me and told of how much she is looking forward to going on the cruise we are offering this fall to the Panama Canal. Her daughter was born there and she was excited about seeing Panama once again and decided to just do it because she can do it. “Do it because I can still do it” seems to be a common motivation among our travelers. I guess Nike coined a phrase appropriate for all ages – “Just Do It”. See the National Parks, take a grandchild to a special place, ask that friend to come along, visit that 50th state, ride a scenic train, revisit a favorite ballpark, or whatever else sparks your soul – just do it! Leave the driving to Sunrise Tours! Happy Travels.
• I hope you have determined that overall the drivers at Mid-American Coaches are efficient, thoughtful, cooperative and good drivers. That happens to be my opinion and please let me know if you do not share those feelings. • Abraham Lincoln has seen me in Washington D.C. so much in the last few years that he told Mary Todd that I lived there. • Each of our Tour managers has their own style and they do things differently on the trips that they manage. Each one may serve beverages differently, may sit in a different seat, add humor to the trip in a different way, etc. The important thing is that they put the customer first in all that they do. That is most important and required by Sunrise Tours. • Do people like the option of taking the bus to a cruise rather flying? Will we have more people taking a cruise if we offer a bus trip rather than a flight? • Our civil servants are at times no longer civil or no longer servants. Should we do away with them? • Charlie is planning our Alaskan adventure this
summer mile by mile. We are looking forward to the 30 day trip as there are differences between Alaska and other states! I know that because I have been to Alaska previously. • John Wilkes Booth lived in a boarding house in Washington D.C., which is now the site of the Newseum Museum at the corner of 6th Street and C Street in our Capital. John Wilkes Booth shot Abraham Lincoln at 10th Street and E Street in the Ford Theater. • Fuel costs and general economic conditions have financial gurus talking about the struggles of the worldwide travel industry. Sunrise Tours has never imposed a fuel surcharge on our trips and we do not have any plans to do so. • Our loyalty programs are just that, our attempt to give something back to our loyal customers. Be sure to evaluate our program to see if it fits your plans as we may do “groupons” instead. • Charlie and I are now more selective in the trips we take than we were in 2000 because we can. You have always been selective and we at Sunrise Tours hope you continue to select us. Please do not leave home without us.

Last year this tour sold out within a few months! It is a popular tour full of remote destinations and unique experiences. Please note: this tour requires a moderate level of mobility to traverse the remote areas and boat excursions. Please be sure you can climb 15 steps with your carryon, climb in and out of boats and walk on uneven surfaces.
Just a few spots left! Please note: Due to the relatively small number of rooms at the EcoLodge, there is limited availability on this tour.

Savannah is called ‘America’s First Planned City’ because Oglethorpe (who founded it in 1733) carefully organized the town into grids, with wide streets and 24 public squares. 21 of these squares were carefully preserved throughout the years and still exist today.

Day 20: Travel to Denver, CO Day 21: Travel to Hayes, KS Day 22: Return home Hilo On the Big Island, Hilo is a paradise of black-sand beaches, tropical rainforest and volcanic mountains. Mauna Loa, the largest mountain on the planet, soars above the bleak lava fields of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. In the heart of the Big Island’s lush rainforest lies the remote and stunning Wai’po Valley (Valley of the Kings). Hawaii’s history matches its incomparable landscape - it is a saga of mighty Polynesian kings, sugar barons, war and treachery. Honolulu Home to nearly half a million people, Honolulu is Hawaii’s state capital and only major city. The city of Honolulu and the island of Oahu offer a wealth of historic, cultural and scenic attractions. Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head are two of the city’s enduring symbols. Pearl Harbor, site of the USS Arizona Memorial and the “Punchbowl,” are haunting reminders of the tragic events of December 7, 1941, when the Japanese surprise attack on Pearl Harbor forced America into World War II. Honolulu is also home to the historic Iolani Palace, the official residence of Hawaii’s last royals. Beyond the city lie tropical rain forests, the Pali Lookout and the North Shore known for its surfing beaches. Kauai The fourth largest island in the Hawaiian group, Kaua’i is known as the “Garden Island.” The terrain ranges from the volcanic slopes of Mt. Waialeale and the desert-like beauty of Waimea Canyon to the Wailua River’s lush Fern Grotto. Ironically this once isolated island was the site of the first meeting between Europeans and Hawaiians. On January 19, 1778, Captain James Cook anchored his ships off the mouth of the Waimea River, becoming the first in a long line of enthusiastic visitors. Maui Maui has always occupied a special place in the hearts of Hawaiians. The great warrior King Kamehameha, who united the islands under his rule, chose to make Lahaina his capital and Ka’anapali was once the favorite playground of Hawaiian royalty. And no wonder - Maui boasts stunning landscapes and superb beaches. Mt. Haleakala, a dormant volcano, rises 10,000 feet above the Pacific Ocean. Once hailed as “The Valley of the Kings,” Maui’s Iao Valley is a tropical paradise dominated by the Needle, a volcanic monolith towering over the valley floor. Then there is Lahaina, once home to a royal court and a raucous port-of-call enjoyed by 19th-century Yankee whalers.

an injury that prevents the traveler from continuing on the tour, insurance will cover the cost of the extended stay, the cost of transportation home and the value of the missed tour (subject to claim submission and acceptance by Berkley Insurance). If you do not have insurance, you will personally incur these costs and it can be very expensive. 2) Trip cancellation - If you are forced to cancel a tour for medical reasons (for you or an immediate family member), having insurance ensures a complete refund of monies paid (except for the cost of insurance). Singles Requesting Roommates If you would like to go on tour with us, but do not have a roommate for a specific trip, let us know and we will match you with someone else (same sex of course). Just let us know at least 60 days before departure and we will room you with another traveler at the double rate. If there is no roommate available on the tour you request, you will still only have to pay the price of a double. If you decline the roommate assigned, you will be responsible for the single supplement. Of course, if you prefer to travel individually, you can still sign up for the single fare. This offer is not valid on cruises, and some select tours.
Method of Payments For deposits we accept checks or cash. For final payment we accept Visa, Mastercard, check or cash. Seating on the Motorcoach Seating is assigned and will be rotated on a daily basis. Special seating requests are honored on the basis of availability. Paying the single fare does NOT ensure you will have a seat to yourself on the coach, it only ensures you a room by yourself.
