About Imagine yourself in a fairytale-like Tuscan landscape with rolling golden hills full of vineyards, sunflowers, olive trees and sparkling light. In the distance, a picturesque orange village looms up. You think of a big wooden table on the terrace of a small farmhouse. Surrounded with lemon trees and terracotta pots full of large, gold coloured Grandaisies. The table is decorated with a red and white checkered tablecloth and richly filled with vigs and cheese, freshly baked bread, colourful spices, the clearest olive oil and sweet barolo wine. Feelings of pleasure and joy overwhelm you. This is what they call a piece of heaven. The ease and the calmness of the place. You wish it would stay forever this way. That’s why we say “A Grandaisy® for your thought.” Flower powerrrrrr The Grandaisy® collection instantly turns your garden into a bright and cheerful display of big, energetic flowers with truly striking colours. Grandaisy® is a collection of fast growing, early flowering, and very large flowered Argyranthemum which are strong, healthy and suitable for almost every climate. To fully appreciate the lively colours of Grandaisy®, you can use it as a patio plant, a bedding plant or in charming balcony boxes and big decorative pots. It’s a high value product and the new standard in large flowered daisies.

Identity The introduction of Grandaisy® as a brand prompted the marketing department of MNP flowers to make a beautiful identity that suits the plants well. Therefore, we have taken appealing pictures of our plants, created a new logo, written new texts, developed new designs and, most importantly, introduced even more successful and new Grandaisy® varieties. The complete Grandaisy® branding is specially designed to tell you the full story of Grandaisy® and inform you of its special characteristics and the feelings it evokes. These days consumers want more! They prefer a specially made design, more background information, more involvement with the product (customer experience) and, most importantly, they wish to create a sea of flowers and long lasting plants in their own garden. Preferably with excellent value for money. All these factors add extra value to the plant (brand) and can be achieved through official branding.
For example, the official branded labels make the plants more visible and recognisable on the shop floor. They provide more information and tell a clearer story about the positive and distinctive characteristics of the species as compared to its competitors. This encourages consumers to return and buy the same brand – Grandaisy® – again! Ultimately, more plants are sold and everybody in the (supply) chain will benefit. We will not keep these designs and new information to ourselves. Instead, we plan to share it all with our partners which means our customers (licensees, growers, garden centers, etc.) can profit equally. The goal is not only to sell more plants but also to keep costs low, make a better and more reliable impression on the end consumer and stay ahead of the competition. If you would like more information about the Grandaisy® brand or other MNP flowers brands, please feel free to contact head of marketing & communications Mr. Erwin Giezen.

Information
Cultivation I How to use Grandaisy® is a strong and healthy plant, suitable for almost every climate. It can be used as a patio plant, in balcony boxes and as a bedding plant, but is also ideal for container pots, hanging baskets, window boxes and landscapes. The plants will flower from early spring until the end of the summer if well cared for. Old flowers are not very noticeable but it is good for the plant to take them out regularly. Another option is to simply cut back your plant at the foliage limit. Then it will reflower abundantly in the following weeks. Additionally, it helps to keep the plant compact and well-shaped. Due to its fast growing power, you can easily repot a single Grandaisy® plant into a big container. A few weeks later you will have a nice shaped big plant enlightening your garden. Growing scheme Stick URC Week 1
Pinching Week 5/6
Rooting time: 2/3 weeks
Final plant Week 13/14 Growing time: 11 weeks
Potting Week 3/4
Flowering characteristics What highlights Grandaisy® among the standard Argyranthemum is its impressive flower size and vigour.
Grandaisy® flowers are more than twice the size of a standard Argyranthemum and some are reaching a size up to 9/10cm. Furthermore, the highly advanced breeding of Grandaisy® has created a superior result, leading to early blooming varieties with striking colours. Propagation Select cuttings from vegetative stems: a cutting without a flower bud will root better. Grandaisies are very fast and easy to root: regarding the season it will take 2 to 3 weeks to have a rooted cutting ready to be potted. The last week of rooting, start to reduce the humidity, watering and temperature to acclimate your cuttings. Potting Start with certified clean material from one of the official MNP flowers dealers. Because cuttings are growing very fast, it is recommended to pinch them all while still in the trays. This will allow a better branching and a more homogeneous culture. Grandaisy® is more suitable for bigger pot sizes, such as 15/17 cm pots. Use a good quality bedding plant mixture that can contain enough moisture and has a good structure. pH of mixture can be around 6,0/6,5. Pinching If you use unpinched cuttings, it is recommended to pinch your Grandaisy® in the first 2 weeks after potting, regarding the plant size. A second pinching round can be useful to get a perfect branching plant, especially for plants in big containers or in low light conditions. Pinching can slightly delay flowering.
www.grandaisy.com
Cultivation II Growing 1. Growing time Crop time is highly dependent on parameters such as pinching, variety, climate, use of growth regulator etc … In a general, you can assume a growing time of 11 weeks. 2. Media and fertilizer Keep the pH around 6,0/6,5 and use constant feed at 2/3 g/L with additional iron as needed (promote good leaf colour). A full complement of minor elements should be provided. 3. Temperature A day temperature around 20°C is indicated to grow your Grandaisy®. To high temperatures will promote stem stretching. If necessary, your plants can be moved to a slightly colder environment 2/3 weeks after potting, once the root system is well developed. A colder night temperature (between 10 and 15°C) will promote good branching and a nicer habit but a frequent temperature under 10°C will increase crop time. 4. Watering To grow a compact plant, it is advisable not to water excessively, so that you avoid soil saturation and allow the plants to dry between irrigations. However, during summertime it is required to apply frequent watering. 5. Crop protection Watch out for aphids, thrips, white fly, leafminers. botrytis, rhizoctonia, Pythium. Grandaisy® is insensitive to mildew.
6. Growth regulation Your Grandaisy® can be kept compact by regulating the given amount of water (don’t water excessively), keeping the temperature low, pinching the plants two times, using a cold morning strategy or negative DIF, growing the crop in a light environment or using growth regulators. We have positive experiences with Alar at 1.5 to 3 g/L and Cycocel at 0.75 to 1.0 g/L can also be used. PGR applied late in the crop cycle can delay flowering from 1/2 weeks and reduce the flower size. We highly recommend avoiding application once flower buds appear. Bonzi applied as a drench at 2 to 5 mg/L can hold the crop allowing flower development to continue, which is very useful for a late stage application. However, its use is not recommended due to its high power, which requires a very precise dosage and makes it very delicate to use. A misuse can stop the crop completely. Please note that the need of growth regulation is highly dependent of the variety characteristics 7. Environment A good lighting level is recommended because low light environments will promote stretchy stems. Long days promote the best flowering. Short days result in a longer crop time. To accelerate this time, you can increase the night temperature. Disclaimer The information above has been compiled with maximum care and is based on our current knowledge. MNP flowers is not responsible for the consequences of the use or misuse of above information. When using crop protection products or growth regulators, always comply with applicable laws and regulations in your country.

Behind the brand
About us
Our four core activities The business of MNP flowers can broadly be divided into four core activities. 1. Testing & selection Each year MNP flowers selects and tests new and innovative varieties in close consultation with Suntory速 Flowers Ltd. The breeding of the plants takes place in Japan, Vietnam and Australia, where an extensive team of professionals works passionately together to create perfect plants for every garden and balcony worldwide. Thereafter, the quality and selection specialists of MNP flowers select the plants and varieties that are suited best to the European market of today. With a clear vision, profound insight and common sense, they test the selected novelties extensively at several testing locations. Requirements that need to be met by our novelties are earliness, sturdiness, floriferousness, weather resistance, colour consistency, growth and more. 2. Building brands After the final selection, the specialists decide which varieties will be introduced and which will be either retested or dismissed. This is the point where we start building brands! The marketing department is the creative heart of our organization. To perfectly position new products into the market, a specified market research is conducted to identify the end consumer of each novelty and his or her corresponding preferences. Thereafter, the product name and brand design is discussed and created in several intensive brainstorm sessions. We develop a brand story, a brand logo, labels,
pots, leaflets and an online platform, to present the brand in every way. Now the product is ready to be marketed! 3. Introduction, sales and licensing The most important activity is bringing our new varieties (novelties) to the professional market. MNP flowers introduces new varieties three times a year: during the IPM, the FlowerTrials速 and the FloraHolland Trade Fair. Consequently, there is always a reason to visit MNP flowers, both on location and during exhibitions. During a visit, business partners can express their interest in a new product and decide whether they want to run trials or to add the introduction to their assortment straightaway. To take up a new variety, a small license fee has to be paid for every Suntory速 plant that is sold. MNP flowers compensate for this fee by creating free marketing concepts, arranging free publicity and PR, safeguarding plant quality, future breeding activities, etc. for its partners. Hence, plants of MNP flowers are protected by trademark and plant variety rights. 4. Monitoring and support At MNP flowers we are happy to guide, advise and provide our business partners in all the support they need. Therefore, we work closely together with our licensees. We visit them as much as possible, not only to consult them about propagating and growing specific Suntory速 varieties, but also to listen and learn from their experiences in the field. This means, we can benefit from each other and establish a continuous growth and improvement of our business and breeding strategy every year.
