ADE IN SHANGHAI
Project 1/ Negative Space/ Leaving blank Type: Adaptive City/ AA Shanghai Global School team work Re-do / Individual Tutor: Daniel Gillen Location: Shanghai, China Period: 2 weeks/ Dec.2013
Description We are fixed mindset that city are only buildings. Look at cities like Shanghai and Hongkong, which are piled up with high-rise buildings. Just imagine this, with uncontrolled designing of buildings, we would at last find that we are living in a solid cube city, without enough open space for the city. Then we start to hunt for empty space for ourself. This happened, and will be easily ignored by the designers. Aside from the excitement of what we’ve design, the buildings, we are lost in a solid cube city and we are losing what we really need. So, why not start from the least open space we need first, design them, and the rest are the buildings?
