The Wine Auction extravaganza culminates with the Vine & Dine. A lawn party with great wines, tasty food, live music and dancing…it’s all here. Gifted chefs from top local restaurants present tapas-style specialties for you to nibble on. Most importantly, more than 60 wineries showcase their best varietals so you can taste to your heart's content. In case you need a break from all things wine, you can also enjoy craft beer from Warfield Distillery & Brewery and Sawtooth Brewery, complete with Sun Valley Mustard and pretzels. This year, the Pink Flamingos return to Sun Valley with their signature “out-ofyour-seat, non-stop entertainment” for all partygoers. The lucky attendees at this one-of-a-kind Vintner Dinner will find themselves at the Blackburns’ stunning new home, a hidden jewel in the hills above Warm Springs. The house is designed with a simple and elegant combination of rustic materials, contemporary elements and creative artistic touches. It is also the perfect spot for entertaining, with wide-open spaces, multiple decks and views of the surrounding mountains from nearly every room. Guests at this dinner will be dazzled by a heavenly array of courses prepared by local chef Chris Kastner. Chris will present his captivating cuisine using fresh, local ingredients paired perfectly with a selection of award-winning wines from two of California’s most prestigious cellars. Peter Figge will uncork a variety of his signature handmade varietals, and Cris and JoAnn Cherry of Villa Creek will share their big, luscious reds, all as perfect accompaniment to the delightful flavors of Chris' inventive dishes.


FIGGE CELLARS Peter Figge, Proprietor Figge Cellars exemplifies the new traditions of old-world wine craftsmanship. Producing only Burgundian varietals, these small-lot production wines express their cold climate origins and are prized by sommeliers and their patrons for their elegance and complexity.

VILLA CREEK CELLARS Cris & JoAnn Cherry, Owners The flagship reds from this stand-out organic winery in the west hills of Paso Robles showcase grapes from the area’s most prestigious vineyards. Villa Creek’s Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre, along with blends of the three varietals, have reached unobtainable status. These vibrant wines exhibit fruit, minerality, earth and soul.

CHEF CHRIS KASTNER CK’s Real Food, Hailey, Idaho Using local and regional foods, and drawing inspiration from different cuisines around the world, CK creates tasty and healthy dishes for his many fans in the Valley. The mission of his restaurant is eating and buying locally with a big focus on sustainability.


Spend an enchanted summer evening under the stars at this Vintner Dinner, complete with fantastic food and good times. The magical partnership is back again this year, as celebrity chef Beau MacMillan returns to the Wine Auction and teams up for another memorable event with the pros from Kosta Browne Winery and Round Pond Estate. You will start the night off with a delightful cocktail hour in the garden at Liz Brown’s gorgeous home in West Ketchum, sampling a selection of the wineries’ best offerings along with tasty bites created by the chef. As the sun sinks slowly behind the hills, the festivities will continue on the expansive lawn under twinkling lights, as MacMillan pulls out all the stops for an outstanding meal. His innovative culinary style will be perfectly matched with Kosta Browne’s perennially sold-out and highly coveted Pinots. And Ryan MacDonnell will be uncorking some of Round Pond’s rare vintages, especially their rich and expressive Cabernets. These highly rated, limited-production Rutherford wines have earned critical praise for their trademark blend of voluptuousness and complexity. This is truly Sun Valley at its finest. ROUND POND E S TAT E Ryan MacDonnell, Proprietor Round Pond Estate, owned and operated today by the second generation of the MacDonnell family, is a Rutherford, California, farm and winery that specializes in the creation of pure, expressive wines, artisan foods and unforgettable experiences—all from the heart of Napa Valley.

The party will begin with signature cocktails and appetizers on the front terrace of the Calvins’ home, moving to the lush and expansive backyard for dinner, where a cascading waterfall provides the background music for a true adventure in wine, food and artistry. Hard-to-find wines from Peay and Larkmead will complement an astounding array of locally-sourced culinary offerings created by Stuart and enhanced by the talents of his wife, the acclaimed pastry chef, Nicole Krasinski, along with local private chef Brent Barsotti. As an added bonus, special guest artist Ashley Longshore from New Orleans will delight and entertain the crowd with her refreshing irreverence and originality. LARKMEAD V I N E YA R D S Dan O’Brien, Director Established in 1895, Larkmead is one of the oldest family-owned grapegrowing estates in the Napa Valley. The 150-acre vineyard estate captures nuance and complexity by vinifying small lots to express the unique character of the diverse soil profile and produce big, powerful wines.

P E AY V I N E YA R D S Andy Peay, Sales & Marketing Director Peay Vineyards, a first-generation family estate, produces terroir-driven Pinot Noir, Syrah and Chardonnay from their remote and rugged West Sonoma Coast vineyard. Peay has become one of the most sought-after wineries, leading a trend toward wines of balance.

CHEF STUART BRIOZ A State Bird Provisions and The Progress, San Francisco, California Stuart is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and has worked all over the country to develop his own unique style of cooking, blending simplicity with seasonal and local foods. In 2005, the San Francisco Chronicle named Stuart one of the year’s “Rising Star Chefs” and he won the James Beard “Best Chef: West” award in 2015.


Stunning views, delightful wines, fine company, and astounding delicacies will be yours for the taking during this magical evening. In a beautiful location just south of Ketchum sits the sculpture, Spur, commissioned by The Center and created by renowned artist John Grade as part of The Center’s 2016 multi-part exhibition, Craters of the Moon. The piece is installed where Union Pacific trains once passed, delivering visitors to the Wood River Valley, and the site still holds a small section of the original railroad track. The sculpture’s charred black interior and the horizontal spines running its length evoke those tracks and allude to the area’s history, as does the sculpture’s title. In this creative and unusual setting, with the mountains and stunning artwork as a backdrop, Ketchum chef Taite Pearson will be working wonders to present a sumptuous and elegant farm-to-table dinner to be enjoyed under the stars. And as the perfect complement to the flavors of the evening, the meal will include top-notch Cabernets from O’Shaughnessy Estate. DuMOL’s excellent Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs round out the noteworthy selection of oenological treats. CHEF JOHN TESAR Knife, Dallas, Texas Critically acclaimed chef John Tesar is known for his stylish, modern American cuisine prepared with classic European techniques—and for the big personality he has shown on Top Chef. Jill and David Hitchin built their home with a distinctive arched copper roof, naming it “Chanteclair” after the symbol for the Gallic rooster. EXECUTIVE CHEF CHRIS LUSK Pontchartrain Hotel, New Orleans, Louisiana A Johnson & Wales graduate, Chris Lusk has had a rich and varied career— from training at an Irish hotel to cooking Tex-Mex at Star Canyon in Dallas to creating Italian cuisine with Mario Batali. In 2009, he was named one of Esquire magazine’s “Four Breakout Chefs to Watch,” and in 2011, Chef Lusk was invited to cook at the James Beard House and was recognized again by Esquire for “Best Dessert of 2011.”

THREE STICKS WINERY Prema Behan, General Manager & Co-Founder A boutique family-owned winery founded in 2002 by Bill Price, Three Sticks produces small-lot wines of world-class quality from his iconic vineyards in Sonoma County, including Durell and Gap's Crown Vineyards. Director of Winemaking Bob Cabral has taken the reins to craft an all-star selection of artisanal Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs that continue to impress critics.

P H I F E R PAV I T T W I N E Suzanne Phifer Pavitt, Proprietor Hidden in the hills near Calistoga is a small winery producing big, powerful Napa Valley Cabernets and Sancerre-inspired Sauvignon Blancs. Winemakers Ted Osborne and Gary Warburton have a passion for consistently pushing the wine quality at Phifer Pavitt to new heights, resulting in rave reviews and ever-increasing popularity.

CHEF D R E W VA N L E U VA N Drew Van Leuvan is the executive chef and partner at Seven Lamps and GRAIN, Atlanta, Georgia. He is a recipient of Food & Wine magazine's "Chef on the Rise" award, a member of the Jean-Louis Palladin Foundation and Chef's Collaborative and in 2015, was presented "Eye on Atlanta" at the James Beard House.

We cannot guarantee that you will be assigned to a particular event, but completing all four preferences when you register will improve the likelihood that you will get your top choice. We give priority to Grand Cru Patrons. Purchasing the Grand Cru ticket package is the only way to guarantee your first-choice dinner, and then, only if the dinner has not filled. At registration, we will provide you with your Vintner Dinner assignment.

PAYMENT AND REFUND POLICY

Registration may be paid for by check or credit card (American Express, MasterCard or Visa). Due to the limited availability of passes and the charitable fundraising purpose of the event, no refunds are available.

In the likely event of a sell-out, we will place you on a waiting list for all events.

By law, all registrants and guests attending Wine Auction-sponsored events, including the Saturday Vine & Dine, must be at least 21 years of age. No one under 21, including infants and toddlers, will be admitted to any function over the course of the Wine Auction weekend. We recommend making childcare arrangements in advance.

PARKING REQUIREMENTS

Valet parking will be provided for the Wine Auction Gala evening at Dollar Mountain Lodge. Due to limited parking capacity, there will be no patron parking at Dollar Mountain Lodge for any events including the Vine & Dine (except for Grand Cru passholders). A free shuttle service from the Pavilion parking lot will be provided for the Vine & Dine Plus and Vine & Dine attendees.
