The lodge style home was built in 1989 using custom hand peeled and notched logs. The Swedish cope style was used to eliminate the heavy horizontal chinking line found in most log homes. The more expensive Swedish cope style has only been used in a few homes in the valley. A small family-owned Montana company was chosen for their expertise in using large hand peeled logs and their excellent Swedish cope craftsmanship. The owners, a realtor and an interior designer who have been in business in Sun Valley for many years, used their knowledge gained from working with many clients and their own lifestyle, to give the home the Sun Valley rustic mountain log lodge feel that functions well for a couple or a family. They utilized the southwest exposure of the lot to create rooms filled with natural light. To emphasize the mountain feel throughout the home, they used warm colors, natural Arizona sandstone floors, custom wire brushed cabinets, doors, and trim, and handcrafted custom fixtures. Many local craftsmen and artists were used. James Reed designed the stairway which was made with an Alaskan saw and assembled with walnut wedge accents. Jacque Bordeleau designed and etched the custom glasswork in the cold entry to complement Indian artifacts in the living room. Idaho Mudworks did the custom tile in the master bath utilizing wildflowers, trout, and a local mountain scene. In the powder room, a Gordon Webster custom pottery sink in set in a cedar pedestal base. Weiderrick Metalworks crafted the door hardware and fireplace screen & doors. In 2006 Dembergh Construction completed an addition and remodel, adding an oversized two-car garage as well as an expanded master suite. A new cold roof with fire-treated shakes was added to the entire house. All the doors, windows and trim were replaced and Dembergh’s custom log buck trim was used throughout. The home has an open living, dining and kitchen area that opens onto a large paver patio, which overlooks ponds and open space.

The kitchen has a six burner, double oven Wolfe Range, Sub Zero refrigerator and a center island. Local caterers and chefs have loved using this well designed and very functional kitchen. The guest suite on the main level has a French door to access the patio. The home centers around the kitchen with a custom log staircase accessing the upstairs bedroom suites, office and exercise area. The second guest suite is located at the top of the stairs with a balcony deck overlooking the ponds. The 1500 SF master suite includes an office, exercise area, and spacious bath. The master bath has two separate 5’ vanities, steam shower, cedar sauna, and a jetted tub. All the master suite rooms have balcony decks with views. There is a radiant floor heat system throughout the home which provides warm floors in the winter, as well as a gas forced air system on the main level, a large hot water system, and ceiling fans throughout. The owners realized the benefit of owning a one acre lot overlooking two large beaver ponds, natural landscaping, and eight acres of open space, close to town, bike paths, and hiking trails. June Day Subdivision has large lots and open space, giving the feel of country living with the benefits of Sun Valley city services, city water and sewer, and bus service. This property is on a quiet cul-de-sac with no highway noise. The private park-like setting with beaver ponds and open space is home to trout, beaver, deer, elk, ducks, geese, and other wildlife. The home has a southwest exposure which provides early warm sunlight and a cooler comfortable patio in the late afternoon. This property is for those who want a rustic log home in a natural setting and enjoy nature, with the convenience and closeness of the area amenities. 1st Floor: 1997 SF Total: 4295 SF
