Scientists suspect the observed rise in infections is likely driven by a new coronavirus variant called XBB.1.16 identified in India earlier this month by

Rajesh Karyakarte, professor of microbiology, and his team at the B.J. Medical College, Pune.“There is very little information at this point in time on the clinical outcomes from XBB.1.16 — not enough patients, not enough data,” said Vinod Scaria, a scientist at the Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology, New Delhi.“We need to wait for more evidence to emerge,” he said.A preliminary analysis of less than 30 patients in India infected with XBB.1.16 has found that most had mild symptoms and all recovered from the infection.

Pulwama wives’ demand for jobs dodgy enough, Gehlot caving will encourage exploitation

Chaos in Delhi Assembly as Oppn Demands Kejriwal’s Resignation, Speakers Orders 3 BJP MLAs Out of House

Agency News: New Delhi

Rajasthan is yet to go out on the hustings, but the politics over the 2019 Pulwama attack is once again being played out in a theatre of the tragic. It could easily have fallen into the theatre of the absurd, but for the fact that central among those on stage were three women whose husbands were Central Reserve Police Force soldiers who lost their lives in the car bomb attack on 14 February 2019. Madhubala Meena lost Head Constable Hemraj Meena, while Manju Jat’s husband was Constable Rohitash Lamba, and Sundari Devi lost Constable Jeet Ram Gurjar. Their loss cannot ever be compensated. The theatre enacted on the streets of Jaipur, nevertheless, was overcompensation. And the fact that the Government of Rajasthan, headed by Congress’ Ashok Gehlot, should enable two of them to get more. On the day of the attack, CRPF lost 40 troopers, of whom five were from Rajasthan. The families of Head Constable Narayan Lal Gurjar and Constable Bhagirath Singh haven’t been seen to make any additional demands and haven’t participated in any of the street demonstrations either. Nor, for that matter, have the other 37 wives of the dead soldiers been known to stage the ubiquitous protest form of dharna. Of the three, two have placed a similar demand — jobs. Under any circumstances, the issue of jobs would not have featured in any discussion since that is a sine qua non in any compensation package. And it has featured so from the time television brought war home during the 1999 Kargil campaign. It is also part of the package offered in Rajasthan, apart from financial and other allocations. This includes Rs 25 lakh in cash and a similar additional amount if the wife of the deceased does not want irrigated land or medium income group urban house. Another Rs 5 lakh for the parents in a post office savings account, and one child secured. Then there is the small feature of a lifetime Rajasthan Roadways bus pass, and finally what really catches the attention in rural Rajasthan — statues and the renaming of schools or colleges after soldiers. Madhubala Meena has had a college in Sangod renamed after her husband.

Sisodia’s ED custody extended by 5 days; Lawyer says show proceeds, not crime

The ED told the court that Delhi’s former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia could not give any answer to their question of why he changed so many phones. In the ED custody, he was confronted with

three persons, including an IAS officer and the excise commissioner, the ED told the court, as reported by Livelaw, as Sisodia was produced before the Rouse Avenue Court on the expiry of his 7-day ED custody in the money laundering case in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case.As the ED sought further remand of Sisodia, it told the court that Sisodia needs to be confronted again. He could not say where his phone is. Sisodia’s lawyer opposed the plea for extending the remand on this ground of the phone as he said the CBI too mentioned this point in their remand. The ED has to say something else to justify their further remand, Sisodia’s lawyer argued.

“Virat Sir told us there is nothing about pressure here, it is all about the pleasure,” Ahuja, a 20-year-old from Punjab, said as she soaked in the spotlight in her first-ever media conference. Kohli skipped Team

India’s option training session to meet RCB’s women’s squad on Wednesday.“He told us to not put ourselves in pressure when we are out there in the middle. He said it is a matter of pleasure that we are getting to play here, not everyone gets such an opportunity,” said Ahuja, who wants to bat 360 degrees like Suryakumar Yadav. What else did Kohli say? “I’ve been playing IPL for 15 years. And I haven’t won it yet. But that doesn’t stop me from being excited every year.

This champion is going to rise again, flamboyant former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh said of Rishabh Pant after meeting the wicketkeeper-batter, who is recovering from the multiple injuries he suffered during a horrific road accident.Having made one of the greatest comebacks in the history of the sport, Yuvraj knows a thing or two about what it takes to come back from the brink. Soon after his exploits in the 2011 World Cup, Yuvraj was diagnosed with cancer, for which he took treatment in the US before making a comeback to Indian team.“Onto baby steps!!! This

champion is going to rise again. Was good catching up and having a laugh. What a guy positive and always funny!! More power to you @rishabpant,” Yuvraj posted on his Twitter handle.Yuvraj was discharged from the hospital after his third and final chemotherapy in March 2012. He had what’s called mediastinal seminoma cancer. Coming back to Pant, the India star recently gave his fans a glimpse of his road to recovery.

Filmmaker Sandeep Reddy

Vanga once again spoke about his movies Arjun Reddy and Kabir Singh which received flak for their storyline. In the most recent episode of Nijam with Smita, the director was asked if he believes that people in love can hit each other. Responding to the question, Vanga said, “It depends.” He went

on to say, “I mean if kids are born and parents are slapping each other, it will be considered domestic violence. From the kids’ perspective, they will feel my parents are always fighting.”Justifying his take, the filmmaker said he was talking about people in college at a particular age. According to him, there is nothing unconditional about it when a boy and a girl consider displaying their worst traits. He said, “If it’s not unconditional then I don’t consider

it a great love story.” The director admitted that although he attempted to express it in that context, it was not received well. Sandeep Reddy Vanga also talked about the difference in the way both the films, Kabir Singh and Arjun Reddy were received. The director said that the reviews didn’t affect him but he found it funny as both the movies that were the same frame by frame ended up receiving completely contrasting reviews.

When Rishab Shetty’s Kantara was released last year, it left everyone completely impressed. The film gained love from all including celebrities, political dignitaries, cricketers and the audience. The film also earned over Rs 450 crore at the box office. Months after its release, Kantara is now all set to make India proud at the global level.Kantara will be screened at the United Nations in Geneva. Reportedly, the screening will be held at the Pathe Balexert theatre on Friday, March 17. It will be attended by actor-director Rishab Shetty too, who will also be delivering a powerful speech at the UN. Shetty will be seen talking about Indian Cinema and its role in starting conversations about the environment and climate conservation. This comes just a few days after Kantara won four awards at the 4th Chandanavana

Film Critics Academy Awards.

While actor and director Rishab won the Best Actor award, his movie was also honoured with the Best Film by movie critics, Best Music award and Best Stunt/ Action award. Later, Rishab shared a slew of photos from the event on his social media and wrote, “It gives me immense pleasure to announce that Our Team Kantara has received the Chandanavana Film Critics award for Best Film, Best Actor, Best Action, and Best Music. Thank you Chandanavana Team for this. Forever Grateful to our Kantara Team for giving the best of the best.”

Norwegian Ambassador to India Hans Jacob Frydenlund has said that the film Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway has ‘factual inaccuracies’ and the story is a ‘fictional representation of the case’. He also said that in the film cultural differences has been shown as the primary factor in the case, which is ‘completely false’. Hans also ‘categorically’ denied that ‘feeding with hands and sleeping in the same bed would be the reason for placing in alternative care’. Taking to Twitter, he shared his article and wrote about the film, “It incorrectly depicts Norway’s belief in family life and our respect for different cultures. Child welfare is a matter of great

responsibility, never motivated by payments or profit. #Norwaycares.”In the Indian Express op-ed, Hans wrote, “Given Rani Mukerji’s acting prowess it is difficult to remain unmoved by it, and movie-goers might come out thinking of Norway as an uncaring country. But as the Norwegian Ambassador to India, it is important for me to present the official Norwegian perspective and correct factual inaccuracies that this film unfortunately portrays. The case that the movie is inspired by was resolved a decade ago in cooperation with Indian authorities and an agreement between all the parties involved. This movie is a fictional representation of the case.” He also said that he has been in India for nearly four years and experienced “first-hand the deep-rooted pride Indian take in their cultural heritage and rightly so’. He also spoke about how Indians celebrate ‘annual events such as the Bollywood festival Norway, Oslo Durga Puja and the Mela festival’. He added, “I sincerely hope this movie will not discourage Indians from coming to Norway. I hope this film will be seen for what it is and I trust in the viewers to understand that this is a fictional representation. For those involved, there is no denying that the experience was traumatic.”

Ahmedabad registers maximum traction for mid-size office spaces in CY22: Knight Frank India

Sunvilla News: Ahmedabad

In their latest research, Knight Frank India noted that Ahmedabadthe financial hub of Gujarat recorded an upsurge in share of transactions in mid-size office spaces or spaces between 50,000 to 1 lakh sq ft from 14% of overall leasing activities recorded in CY21 to 36% in CY22.

The city recorded maximum demand for mid-size office spaces in H2 2022. Transactions for large office spaces measuring above 1 lakh sq ft remained at similar levels YoY, in annual terms. Whereas, transactions for office spaces below 50,000 sq ft witnessed a decline from 63% of overall transactions in CY21 to 42% in CY22. The development also indicates an increasing tendency of small and medium businesses looking to upgrade their workspace. Workforce returning to office in CY22 is also one of the reasons for the demand shift towards mid-sized

offices. On a cumulative basis the demand for office space has risen from 1.1 m,n sq ft to 2.2 mn sq ft in 2022 registering a growth of 88% YoY. Rumit Parikh, Director - Occupier Strategy and Solutions

Industrial & Logistics and Retail, Ahmedabad, Knight Frank India, said, “For long, Ahmedabad has been amongst the smallest office markets in India in terms of annual transaction volumes. However, 2022 has been a year of robust recovery for the Ahmedabad office market with occupier demand rebounding from pandemic lows and scaling over 2.2 mn sq ft during the year.

The 88% YoY increase in demand also marks the sharpest spike among all eight office markets under our coverage. The fact that Ahmedabad has experienced heightened occupier traction in a less-thanideal economic environment, shows the improving stature of its office market.

A team led by Dr Nilesh G Satbhai, Head of Department - Plastic, Hand & Reconstructive Microsurgery and Transplant Surgery, Global Hospitals, Mumbai, performed a 16-hour grueling and complex surgery to help the patient rekindle his hopes of leading an independent life.12 years ago, Mr Prema Ram, a resident of Ajmer, Rajasthan accidentally came in

contact with a live electric pole

while working in the field. His hands sustained multiple electric burns. He was rushed to a nearby hospital in Ajmer, where doctors advised for amputation of both his hands to save his life. The family took him to Jaipur, but was advised the same. The patient’s family tried to get artificial limbs and prostheses, but that could not give him functional hands. Prema Ram’s hands were amputated almost at the shoulder level. This made him extremely disabled and dependent, as compared to other amputees, who lose their hands at below elbow level.
