Plea In Delhi High Court Challenges Notifications Allowing Exchange Of ₹2000 Notes Without Need Of ID Proof

Agency News: New Delhi

A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been moved in Delhi

High Court challenging Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and State Bank of India (SBI) notifications, which permits the exchange of ₹2,000 banknotes without obtaining any requisition slip and identity proof, according to the news agency. The plea calls the decision arbitrary, and irrational and offends Article 14 of the Constitution of India, hence, inoperative. BJP leader and Advocate Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay moved the plea and sought direction to the RBI and SBI to ensure that ₹2,000 banknotes are deposited in respective bank accounts only so that no one could deposit the money in others’ bank accounts and people having black money and disproportionate assets could be identified easily.

Recently, it was announced by the Centre that every family has an Aadhaar card and bank account. Therefore, why RBI is permitted to exchange ₹2,000 banknotes without obtaining identity proof? It is also necessary to state that 80 Crore BPL families receive free grains. It means 80 crore Indians rarely use ₹2,000 banknotes.

Virat Kohli’s Glum Look Goes Viral After Royal Challengers Bangalore Crash Out of IPL 2023

Agency News: Chennai

Sunday afternoon in Chennai was hot, humid and had a very different laze in the air. The roads and pedestrian walkways wore a deserted look. It was the kind of mood one generally gets in the north after a big plate of Chole Bhature and chilled serving of lassi. Chennai didn’t offer the taste of the two but had ample servings of heat and humidity which contributed to that afternoon laze. A look at the weather app gave readings in the mid-30s but it felt more and sapped energy under the unforgiving sun. A handful of daily workers were putting the makeshift barricades while the stadium corridors saw movement from the logistics team. A couple of members of the ground staff were addressing the square and the 22 yards and no one seemed in a hurry. Even in the lanes next to the iconic venue, most of the shops had their shutters down and the ones which were open had the staff glued to the television sets. Right at the end of the road, about a stones throw away from Chepauk stood “Dhoni Sports”. An ideal location and a unique name makes it stand out in a lane filled with more stores doing similar business with names and images of other leading cricketers. This isn’t a big shop with world-class collection or shopping experience. A small L-shaped outlet with some bats, plenty of yellow CSK jerseys and caps and other basic.

‘Extremely Shameful…’: DCW Warns Action After Shubman Gill, Sister Trolled For IPL Win Against RCB

Agency News: New Delhi

Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal on Monday strongly objected those who trolled cricketer Shubman Gill’s sister, after the batsman helped steer Gujarat Titans to their victory against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in an IPL match held a day before. Maliwal took cognisance of the trolls saying that this “will not be tolerated” and vowed action against all those who have abused Shahneel Gill. Taking to Twitter, Maliwal shared some screenshots of Twitter users who abused Gill, and wrote, “Extremely shameful to see trollers abusing Shubman Gill’s sister just because the team they follow lost a match.”

“Previously we had initiated action against people abusing ViratKohli daughter. DCW will take action against all those who have abused Gill’s sister as well. This shall not be tolerated,” she added. This comes after Shubman Gill’s bating led the Gujarat Titans to a sixwicket victory to against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Sunday night. Gill scored a century and played till the end. Before this, Maliwal had also asked the Delhi Police to file an FIR in connection with the “lewd” comments on social media against the daughters of cricketers M S Dhoni and Virat Kohli. “Some accounts are posting pictures of the daughters of two senior players of the country, Virat Kohli and (M S) Dhoni, on Twitter and making lewd comments. Disgusting comments about twoyear-old and seven-year-old girls.

If you don’t like a player, will you abuse his daughter? Issuing notice to police to register FIR,” she had said.

Virat Kohli’s record-breaking Indian Premier League (IPL) century went in vain as Royal Challengers Bangalore failed to progress into the next round.

Kohli registered his seventh IPL ton – the most by any player in the history of the tournament – to guide Bangalore to a challenging total of 197/5 against defending champions Gujarat Titans on Sunday night. GT, thanks to Shubman Gill’s sublime hundred, reached the target with five balls to spare. With no IPL title in their trophy cabinet, the defeat was another blow for the Bangalorebased franchise. Following Gill’s match-winning knock, Kohli was spotted sitting dejected in

the Bangalore dugout. A photo of a crestfallen Kohli soon started doing rounds on social media.

“It’s all about getting a start and converting it into a big one. Thankfully it’s working out for me in the business end. You have to keep applying yourself, that’s important. The new ball was holding on a bit. The ball was getting wet with the dew,” Gill said after his epic knock. In the IPL 2023 playoffs, Gujarat Titans will be up against MS Dhoniled Chennai Super Kings in the first Qualifier. Lucknow Super Giants will face Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator. Both matches will be played in Chennai. This user felt that Virat Kohli did not receive much help from his Royal Challengers Bangalore teammates. Showcasing his support for India’s star batter, one person tweeted, “What more Virat Kohli should do? Every time he gives his heart and soul but everyone else disappoints him! You got to feel for him.” Some even wanted Kohli to join a new franchise ahead of next season’s IPL.

Early this month, clashes had broken out in the hill state after Kuki tribals organised a solidarity march on May 3 to protest against the Meiteis’ demand for Scheduled Tribe status. More than 70 people died in the violence that had simmered for over a week. Property worth crores was torched and thousands were forced to leave their homes to seek safety in government-organised camps. The clashes were preceded by tension over the eviction of Kuki villagers from reserve forest land, which led to a series of smaller agitations. The Supreme Court has agreed to list on May 26 an appeal filed by TMC leader and MP Abhishek Banerjee against Calcutta High Court’s order dismissing his plea to recall the order passed by Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay on April 13 giving liberty to the CBI and ED to interrogate him in the West Benga School Job Scam case. Singhvi argued that the central investigating agency had called Banerjee while he is campaigning outside the state. The Supreme Court then listed the matter on coming

he was trying tooth and nail to oppose an investigation in the West Bengal School Job Scam case. The bench of Justice Amrita Sinha observed that the proper approach for him should be to put himself to the test and come out cl ean instead.

Why did the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) withdraw Rs 2,000 notes from circulation? Explaining the move, the RBI said, “About 89 percent of the Rs 2,000 denomination banknotes were issued prior to March 2017 and are at the end of their estimated lifespan of 4-5 years. The total value of these banknotes in circulation has declined from Rs 6.73 lakh crore at its peak as on March 31, 2018 (37.3 percent of notes in circulation) to Rs 3.62 lakh crore, constituting only 10.8 percent of notes in circulation on March 31, 2023. It has also been observed that this denomination is not commonly used for transactions. Further, the stock of banknotes in other denominations continues to be adequate to meet the currency requirement of the public.” The Central Bank added, “In order to ensure operational convenience and to avoid disruption of regular activities of bank branches, exchange of Rs 2,000 banknotes into banknotes of other denominations can be made upto a limit of Rs 20,000 at a time, at any bank starting from May 23, 2023.” Additionally, the facility for the exchange of Rs 2,000 bank notes up to the limit of Rs 20,000 at a time will be provided at the 19 regional offices of the RBI. As banknotes of smaller denominations became readily available, the requirement of Rs 2,000 notes was met and its printing was stopped in 2018-19 (FY19). It was introduced after the demonetisation exercise in November 2016, as it was the right step at that point, for various reasons. There are approximately 181 crore notes in the denomination of Rs 2,000. This amounts to a value of Rs 3.62 lakh crore, constituting about 10.8 percent of Indian currency notes in circulation. The number of banknotes of Rs 2,000 denomination has steadily declined over the last few years to touch 214 crore or 1.6 percent of the total currency in circulation (CIC) at the end of March 2022, according to the RBI. The total number of currency notes of all denominations in circulation stood at 13,053 crore as of March 2022, up from 12,437 crore from the year-ago period. Do note that Rs 2,000 notes have not been printed since FY19. At the end of March 2020, the number of Rs 2,000 denomination notes in circulation stood at 274 crore, accounting for 2.4 percent of the CIC. The count of Rs 2,000 notes further declined to 245 crore or 2 percent of the total banknotes in circulation as of March 2021 and further fell to 214 crore or 1.6 percent at the end of last fiscal year. The limited point is, 2,000 rupee notes have been consistently and persistently declining in volume, as a percentage of total currency notes in circulation. It was the right time, therefore, for the Modi government, to announce the calibrated exit of these notes on March 19, 2023. In value terms also, the 2,000 denomination notes dipped from 22.6 percent of the total value of currency notes in circulation in March 2020 to 17.3 percent at the end of March 2021 and further to 13.8 percent at the end of March 2022. That figure in March 2023 is even lower, at barely 10.8 percent. In volume terms.

Abdullah Ayyub was arrested with 25 grams of “heroin” worth Rs 1 crore on March 14, 2003. The substance recovered was not heroin and it took Ayyub two decades to prove that the “heroin” seized was normal powder sold at shops. Ayyub’s lawyer Prem Prakash Srivastava said his client had evicted a police constable named Khurshid from his home after he failed to pay rent.

In a rage of revenge, Khurshid hatched a conspiracy with three other police officials to implicate Ayyub in a false case, Srivastava told India Today.

According to Ayyub’s lawyer, these policemen planted fake heroin to implicate Ayyub and also tampered with forensic evidence. During the trial, a forensic lab in Basti said the substance recovered was heroin. But the real story came to light when the substance was sent to Lucknow and that confirmed that it was not heroin at all. As reports were contradictory, the court summoned expert scientists from Lucknow who said that the sample was fake and had a brown colour. As per scientists, heroin remains white and never changes its colour in any climate. After scientists’ statements, Justice Vijay Kumar Katiyar acquitted the wrongfully accused victim. Coming down heavily on the prosecution, the judge observed that the police had misrepresented the whole matter and said the prosecution had wasted.

Agency News : New Delhi

The mystery surrounding Ravindra Jadeja deepened further on Sunday night. A day after a heated conversation with MS Dhoni went viral, which fans witnessed moments after Chennai Super Kings beat Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium to qualify for the playoffs and guaranteed

themselves a top-two finish, Jadeja posted a cryptic tweet that left fans guessing and concerned about a rift with the CSK skipper.

The all-rounder’s wife, Rivaba Jadeja, later retweeted it with an outrageous four-word reaction. Moments after CSK’s 77-run win against DC on Saturday, as players congratulated each other on reaching the playoffs for a record-extending.

better net run-rate. Mumbai Indians, after their eight-wicket win against SRH, clinched the last play-off spot with 16 points. With 34 needed off three overs, Gill’s short-arm half-jab, halfpull off Mohammed Siraj was the killer blow, and then he hit

him for another six to kill the contest as Kohli knocked his head in disbelief in the dugout. RCB had their fate in their own hands but poor execution while defending a healthy total became their undoing. Gill was outstanding in his touch-play against pacers with that extra split second to play his shots while the regal footwork against leg-spinner Himanshu Sharma was a connoisseur’s delight. Gill had an able ally in Vijay Shankar (53 off 35 balls) as the duo added 123 runs for the second wicket to help Gujarat sustain the momentum in the middle overs. The difference between Gill’s match-winning knock and Kohli’s effort was the support at the other end.

Ram Charan – Indeed an honor to be present at Sr. NTR Garu’s centenary celebrations

The centenary celebrations of Telugu cinema’s stalwart Sr. NTR happened yesterday in Hyderabad. Many noted celebrities from TFI graced it, and star hero Ram Charan too attended it. At the event, Charan spoke highly about the legendary actor and shared his fond memories of him. Now Charan took to his Twitter and wrote that it was indeed an honor to be present at the centenary celebrations of the pride of Telugu cinema Sr. NTR. Charan wrote that he learned “strength in solidarity” from Sr. NTR and added that everyone should work together to keep Sr. NTR’s dream alive. On the work front, Charan is currently busy shooting for his upcoming project Game Changer directed by Shankar. This political drama is expected to hit the screens next year. Up next, he will be working with Uppena director Buchi Babu Sana on a rural action drama. NTR Centenary was celebrated yesterday in Hyderabad’s Kukatpally region in a big way. In fact, the celebrations have been happening in different places. In Vijayawada, Balakrishna and Chandrababu organized a similar event, but with only Rajnikanth as the Chief Guest. Now, in Hyderabad, they made sure to invite different actors and politicians from other parties in an attempt to make it a big gathering. But finally, what was the outcome? It’s evident that Chandrababu tried to project himself in the shadow of NTR’s event again. Knowing that it gives a pure TDP color, CBN tried to camouflage it by inviting leaders from other parties like Bandaru Dattatreya of BJP, Sitaram Yechuri of the Communist Party, and others. If that is the case, then why was no BRS leader seen in the vicinity? It is known that KTR (Kalvakuntla Taraka Ramarao) was given the name inspired by NTR, according to the widely prevailing opinion. KCR was a fan of NTR, as per sources! Then why didn’t he attend.

for supplying and servicing the Radio Access Networks (RAN) equipment. Along with TCS, the APO was also issued to state-run ITI Ltd for this project. According to analysts, about 20 percent of the deal value will go to ITI. While the deal is revenue boosting for TCS, it could also be margin dilutive with other players being involved. An analyst seeking anonymity said that the margins from the deal for TCS would stand at less than 10 percent.
