A special ₹ 75 coin will be launched to commemorate the inauguration of the new parliament building, the Ministry of Finance said on Thursday. The commemorative coin will serve as a tribute to India celebrating 75 years of independence and will be unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday. One side of the coin will feature the Lion Capital of the Ashoka Pillar, with the words “Satyamev Jayate” below it. The word “Bharat” will be written in Devanagari script on the left side, and the word “India” in English on the right. The coin will also have the rupee symbol and the denomination value of 75 in international numerals written below the Lion Capital. The other side of the coin will show an image of the parliament complex. The words “Sansad Sankul” will be written in Devanagari script on the upper periphery and “Parliament Complex” in English on the lower periphery. The coin will
be circular in shape with a diameter of 44 millimeters and will have 200 serrations along its edges. The 35-gram coin will be made from a four-part alloy, which includes 50% silver, 40% copper, 5% nickel, and 5% zinc. The new parliament building will be inaugurated by PM Modi on Sunday. India is likely to receive normal amount of monsoon rainfall this year, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Friday. The northwestern parts of the country were likely to get much less rainfall, it said.
The India Meteorological Department on Friday predicted normal rainfall during the monsoon season, adding that there are less chances for it to arrive before June 1. The weather agency has predicted the monsoon to arrive in Kerala around June 4. According to the IMD, India as a whole was expected to receive 96 per cent of the normal rainfall. The northwestern part of the country is likely to remain slightly deficient in rains with monsoon bringing in less than 92 per cent of the normal, the IMD said. Over the next two days, favourable
conditions are expected for the monsoon to advance, it said. ”Below normal monthly (June) rainfall is expected over most parts of the country except some areas of south peninsular India, northwest India, extreme north India and some isolated pockets of northeast India, where above normal rainfall is expected,” The southwest monsoon is expected to be normal this season despite the onset of El Nino, which is caused due to warming of the equatorial Pacific Ocean, he told a press conference.

In November 2016, Prime Minister Narendra Modi shocked the world by outlawing the 500 ($6) and 1,000 rupee bills in which the country held 86% of its cash. This time, the coup de grâce has fallen on the 2,000 rupee banknote. Since it accounts for only 11% of the currency in circulation, and people have until Sept. 30 to change them into other denominations, it’s not as big a problem as the draconian ban back then. Besides, in recent years, India’s retail payments have digitized dramatically. People with smartphones have options outside the world of paper money. But the way the notes are being ferreted out is still frustrating enough for consumers, firms and banks to invite comparisons with the 2016 demonetization experiment. That misadventure missed its main goal of freezing out ill-gotten wealth. But it did shake the foundation on which any nation’s monetary edifice rests. Sovereign cash should have no room for questions. Its users shouldn’t have to value the bills as long as they’re confident that when it’s time to hand them over to someone else, they wouldn’t have to provide any answers either. Ignorance is bliss. The central bank finally replenished the withdrawn currency after putting citizens through months of agonizing hardship. Informal enterprises, which back then had no digital alternatives to make or receive payments, cratered. The poor were badly hit. More than 100 people are believed to have died, waiting in queues to access their own funds; some bank tellers collapsed from exhaustion. You would think the country would have learned its lesson? According to the notification, the section from Janpath T Junction to the main entrance of Motera metro station, continuing to Krupa Residency and further
up to Motera T Junction, will be closed for traffic. As an alternative route, motorists can take the route from Tapovan Circle to ONGC crossroads, then proceed to Janpath T Junction and continue towards the powerhouse, eventually reaching Prabodh Raval Circle. Another option is to travel from Krupa Residency to Sharan Status crossroads, then head to Apollo Circle via Koteshwar Road. These diversions will be implemented for a duration of 12 hours starting from 2pm on both match days, as stated by the traffic department.

Shares of Medplus Health Services zoomed 12% to Rs 772.7 in Friday’s trade on BSE after the company reported a two-fold jump in March quarter profit, driven by strong sales in its key retail segment. Its net profit rose to Rs 26.58 crore for the quarter ended March 31, from Rs 11.73 crore a year ago.

is maintained,” Wood wrote in his GREED & fear weekly newsletter. He further added that the Indian stock market will continue to climb the proverbial wall of worry.
