You will normally be travelling on 'inclusive air tour' tickets. Under certain circumstances it may be possible to change the return date of travel, but this can only be done with both the agreement of this office and the local airline office, and usually at an additional cost to you, which can only be advised at the time of the change. However, this is not advisable and should be avoided if at all possible. In case of extreme emergency please refer to your Insurance Policy. Seats on Aircraft Although with certain airlines we are pleased to make requests for seats in specific positions, UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES ARE WE ABLE TO GUARANTEE SUCH SEATS since airlines can change their configuration and also programmed aircraft at the last moment for operational reasons. Baggage Free baggage allowance is normally 15kgs to 20 kgs for Economy and 30kgs for Business and First class. These allowances are subject to change. Please reconfirm with your consultant. Baggage Delays. In the case of baggage delay the air carrier is liable for damage unless it took all reasonable measures to avoid the damage or it was impossible to take such measures. If baggage is delayed, lost or damaged the passenger must write and complain to the air carrier as soon as possible. We strongly advise against placing valuables in checked in baggage. Passport and Visas A standard 10-year Irish or EU passport is required for all travel and must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended stay. Most alien nationals must obtain visas. However we must emphasise that you are responsible for ensuring that all your travel documents are in order. If you do not hold an Irish or EU passport please consult the appropriate Embassy or high commission on entry visa requirements. Visas are required for Kenya, Maldives, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Bali and Oman and can be obtained on arrival. A visa fee may apply please contact us for details. Tourist cards are required for Cuba, we will arrange these in advance when making your reservation, the current charge is €30 per person per card. Visas for India Vietnam Australia and China must be arranged in advance of departure. Tourist cards are required for the Dominican Republic and are issued on arrival at a cost of $10 per person. Zambia: a visa is required and will be issued free of charge - we will forward relevant information before your departure from Ireland. Egypt: a visa is required at a cost of €20 and we will arrange this on your behalf.
Local Assistance In many of our resorts we include the service of a locally appointed agent who can provide you with local information and assist you with booking tours etc. Contact details will be provided with your tickets and holiday information. Meals With few exceptions, breakfast is buffet. Lunches and dinners included in this programme are table d'hote. If you have any special dietary needs: e.g. vegetarian - then please inform us at the time of booking. 'Extras' Any incidental costs that you may incur during your stay - such as drinks, wine, laundry, telephone calls etc. - must be paid directly to the hotel or lodge on your departure. Special Requests Any special request that you may have - such as a ground floor bedroom, assistance at the airport - must be advised at the time of booking. If you require such requests to be a condition of your acceptance of this holiday and in variation to this contract, this will only be accepted if you receive written confirmation from us that such requests have been confirmed by the carrier, hotel/lodge principal. Important information for passengers travelling to the USA or via the USA All travellers from Visa Waiver Programme (VWP) countries (which includes Ireland) will have to register with ESTA “Electronic System for Travel Authorization” prior to boarding an Air Carrier or water vessel bound to the USA. Passengers can register at the following website; https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov An approved travel authorization via ESTA is: • Required for all VWP travelers prior to boarding a carrier to travel by air or sea to the U.S. under the VWP • Valid, unless revoked, for up to two years or until the traveler’s passport expires, whichever comes first; • Valid for multiple entries into the U.S. As future trips are planned, or if an applicant’s destination addresses or itineraries change after their authorization has been approved, they may easily update that information through the ESTA Web site; and • Not a guarantee of admissibility to the United States at a port of entry. ESTA approval only authorizes a traveler to board a carrier for travel to the U.S. under the VWP. VWP travelers who do not apply for and receive travel authorization via ESTA prior to travel may be denied boarding, experience delayed processing or be denied admission at a U.S. port of entry. Passport Information Please ensure passport names are provided and that the passport is valid for 6 months after departure. Due to changes in the US Visa Waiver Programme, holders of Irish Handwritten Passports will, from 26 October 2004, require a visa to enter the United States of America. Holders of Irish Machine-Readable Passports will continue to be able to enter the USA without a visa. However, holders of Irish Machine-Readable Passports, who have their children (including infants) endorsed on the passport, should read the section below entitled: "Machine Readable Passports and Children". Non-Irish passport holders require a visa for the US. Please contact the relevant embassy. Machine Readable Passports and Children If you hold a Machine Readable Passport, and your children (including infants) are endorsed on the passport, please note that while you will be permitted to enter the United States without a visa, your children will NOT. If you are in this situation, and you and your children are travelling to the USA, you will either have to apply for a visa for your children, or you will have to apply for an individual Machine Readable Passport for each of your children. Children travelling with One Parent Please be advised, if one parent is travelling with children, immigration may require a letter of consent from the other parent to advise that they have permitted the children to travel without the other parent. Health No compulsory health requirements are currently in force if travelling to Mauritius, Maldives, Dubai, Egypt, The Caribbean, Malaysia, China, Vietnam, Peru, Brazil, Thailand unless the visitor has been in the 'yellow fever belt' in the previous 6 days. However it is recommended that protection against tetanus, polio, hepatitis A and typhoid be taken. Protection against malaria is required for all areas other than the coastal region of Cape Province in South Africa. Yellow fever vaccination certificates are required for India, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Kenya and Zambia along with anti-malaria protection - cholera is also required for Zambia. We must emphasise that because requirements may change at short notice, you are responsible for ensuring that you take advice from your GP or appropriate medical authority at least 3 weeks before departure. Car Hire & Driving
Generally, lightweight casual clothing is the most suitable during the day and for touring. In case of cool evenings a light jacket or sweater is advisable. At game lodges and on safari a thick sweater or jacket is advisable as early morning and evening game viewing drives can be chilly on open vehicles. For the evenings in 5 star hotels and for restaurants, particularly in the cities, a tie and jacket is preferred for gentlemen and dresses for ladies. In Middle Eastern countries it is respectful for Women to dress modestly (with knees and elbows covered) when visiting outside of resort. Dress codes in the Caribbean vary. Ramadan: Ramadan is observed by all Muslims and in U.A.E. and Egypt. It begins with the sighting of the new moon after which all physically mature and healthy Muslims are obliged to abstain from all food, drink, gum chewing, any kind of tobacco use between dawn and sunset. In 2011 Ramadan begins 01/08/11 and ends around 30/08/11. Cuba: "Cuba is a unique and very special destination, however the island’s continued economic development is not at the same level as we have in Europe and some aspects of life in Cuba are very different from what we experience here in Ireland .It is important that clients approach their visit to Cuba with an open mind, patience, a sense of humour and an understanding of the differences in the way of life in Cuba compared to Ireland. Game Reserves & Other Outdoor Pursuits Whilst every precaution is taken by game lodges and organisers to ensure the safety of their guests, it must be accepted that there can be a small risk of danger, as one will be travelling through areas where animals wander freely. Due to the Adventure nature of some of the activities it is not uncommon for guests to be asked to sign an indemnity form on arrival at the safari lodge. Political & Safety Restrictions Although there continues to be media coverage, the political situation throughout southern and east Africa continues to develop in a positive manner and people mix freely. As to personal safety, when in major cities it is sensible to take the same precautions that you would in any of the world's metropolitan areas as, unfortunately, crime exists at some level in all destinations worldwide - never leave unattended luggage in front of a hotel or in the lobby - deposit your valuables in the hotel's safe deposit box - don't stroll around the streets after dark - don't wear expensive jewellery when out walking always lock your car doors and keep the windows closed. If you intend to travel "off the beaten track" then do seek local advice. Airport taxes In certain countries, an airport tax is payable locally on departure. Flight Information Our packaged holiday prices are based on a choice of scheduled return flights at the best possible fare. Should the best fares not be available we will quote the next best fare available at the time of booking Please note that holiday quotations are based on availability at the time of quoting. Price increases may apply between quoting and booking due to seat availability. For this reason we strongly recommend early booking. Weather and temperature Tables The information on our temperature grids is supplied by local tourist offices and other sources and is given as a guide only. Many of the destinations featured in this brochure have a tropical climate where heavy rainfall and strong winds do occur at certain times of the year. World weather patterns are now becoming more erratic and unpredictable resulting in unusual rainfall, storms and floods. In certain parts of the Caribbean between July and November there is a chance that you may encounter tropical storms or even hurricanes. We cannot be held responsible for any disruption to your holiday due to unusual or bad weather conditions. A final word
Please note that most hire companies require a deposit at the commencement of any hire to cover the refilling of your petrol tank at the end of the hire. Seat belts are compulsory. Driving under the influence of alcohol is a serious offence and traffic laws are strictly enforced. In South Africa it is compulsory for drivers to carry their driving licence with them at all times. Driving is on the left hand side of the road.
Whilst every endeavour is made to ensure that your travel plans run smoothly there can be times, thankfully very infrequent, when arrangements can go askew due to local circumstances of which we are unaware and have no control over. American Express, Visa and Access (Mastercard) are widely accepted in hotels, restaurants, shops and car hire companies. Please note credit cards are not accepted at petrol stations in South Africa and American Express and MBNA cards are not acceptable in Cuba. Please ensure that you check with your Credit Card company that your card is accepted in the destination you are travelling to.
Air travel is by the services of the International Air Transport Association Member Airlines. The responsibility of IATA Airlines in connection with the tours in this brochure is limited to the carriage of passengers and their baggage in accordance with conditions of carriage of the participating airlines.
