Dear Parent/Guardian: Would you like the opportunity for your son/daughter to take a college course while still in high school? Your school district has partnered with SUNY Erie Community College and is offering college courses at their high school through the Advanced Studies Program. We know a quality education can be costly and as a result the cost is only one-third the regular tuition at SUNY Erie. Benefits of the Advanced Studies Program: • They earn up to 11.5 SUNY college credits per semester per year while completing high school. • They can apply the credit towards a program of study at SUNY Erie Community College or they may elect to transfer the credit to a four-year college. • The courses are SUNY approved transferable courses with a C or better. Private schools will accept these courses; however, it is up to the individual college. • Students are part-time non-matriculated at the college and can get a SUNY Erie ID card and then have access to the gym, library and tutoring centers on campus. Student Responsibilities: 1. Eligible students fill out the SUNY Erie Advanced Studies online application and registration form and return the completed registration form to their high school teacher. 2. Once a student has registered for an Advanced Studies course, it is expected that they will work to fulfill all the requirements of the course. Dropping or withdrawing from an Advanced Studies course is serious. Students must talk with their teacher or school counselor and follow the official SUNY Erie/High School withdrawal policy. Tuition will not be reimbursed. 3. SUNY Erie will send a bill addressed to the student in the mail in November for Fall classes and March for Spring classes. Students will have 30 days to pay. If a balance remains on the account after the due date, two additional bills will be mailed, each containing a $50 late fee. Students will no longer be eligible to receive college credit for the course if payment is not received by the due date listed on the third bill, until their account is paid in full. Advanced Studies Tuition Chart 2020 - 2021 Additional credit hours/tuition can be found in the Parent/Student Handbook. Credits Tuition/Fees Credits Tuition/Fees 3 $273.00 4.5 $409.50 3.5 $318.50 6 $546.00 4 $364.00 6.5 $591.50 4. The high school teacher will submit his/her final grades to SUNY Erie and the college issues the students their earned credit hours. Students can view their grades on WebAdvisor. Your child can then request an official copy of his/her transcript from SUNY Erie and take it to any college of his/her choosing. Further information about the Advanced Studies program, including the Parent/Student Handbook and registration form can be found on our website https://www.ecc.edu/advanced-studies/. In the event school is held virtually due to COVID-19, students will continue to earn college credit and are expected to complete all course work and pay the bill. Please contact the Advanced Studies office at 716-851-1270 or email duquette@ecc.edu if you have questions. Sincerely,

Sheryl Duquette Sheryl Duquette SUNY Erie Community College, Advanced Studies
