No small talk. No silly gift exchanges. No pretending to like one another. No awkward introductions of significant others. No ice sculptures or chocolate fountains. No shots at the open bar or spinach dip stuck between our teeth. No social hangovers. No sparkle. We simply don our ugly sweaters and yoga pants, sit at our tidy desks, log on to view the thumb-print faces. We bring our dogs, raise our glasses, grin, unmute, shout, “Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!” and donate $65,000 to the children’s hospital instead.
