The Program Society’s ongoing revolution in information technology and communication relies significantly on the field of computing. Computing professionals develop techniques, tools and problem-solving approaches that enhance individual and organizational abilities. The industry’s continued progress has resulted in trained professionals being among the most sought-after graduates in today’s job market. Forecast data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that, over the decade 2020-2030, strong employment growth for computer and mathematical occupations is expected due to long-term economic changes driving up demand for workers in these careers. Nationally, the median pay in 2020 for computer-related job titles ranged from $89,190 for computer programmers to $110,140 for software developers and software quality assurance analysts and testers. SUNY Poly’s Computer Science program opens the doors to the exciting field of computing. The program provides students with a valuable foundation through core courses as well as the flexibility to pursue their own individual strengths and interests through a number of specialized advanced electives. Qualified students have the option to complete both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in five years with a reduced total number of credits.
The accelerated BS/MS in Computer Science program is an exciting opportunity for high-achieving students to complete both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Computer Science in a shorter amount of time with a reduced total number of required credits. Ultimately, the students in our accelerated program save both time and money, setting them up for post-graduation success. Students accepted into the BS/MS program follow the same path to receiving their bachelor’s degree as their BS-only peers; they follow the same undergraduate degree requirements and receive their degree once these requirements are completed. Unlike students in the traditional BS program, however, accelerated BS/MS students enjoy many benefits that are exclusive to them such as significant cost savings, higher earning potential, and course scheduling and elective flexibility.
Faculty SUNY Poly faculty work closely with students and challenge them to excel. Many members of the faculty have experience in business and industry as well as academic credentials. A low student-to-faculty ratio means faculty really get to know and work closely with students.
