...but that’s just one doctor’s opinion as we bring you an exciting array of SUPA-STARS to meet and see up close and personal. We proudly introduce… A true Supa-Star, it was only natural that Karl Urban took over the mantle of Dr Leonard ‘Bones’ McCoy in the rebooting of the Star Trek franchise. It was his role as Eomer in Lord of the Rings that heralded his arrival after TV appearances in Xena: Warrior Princess and Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, and starring roles in DOOM, Chronicles of Riddick and The Bourne Supremacy cemented that reality. An absolute heart-throb, all the Twilight fans went wild with excitement when they found out Alex Meraz had been cast as Paul in The Twilight Saga: New Moon and Eclipse. A native of Arizona, Alex is an actor and dancer who graduated from the New School for the Arts and has also studied mixed martial arts for over 12 years. Needless to say his behind the scenes insights will leave fans gasping for more! Although best known as Spike from the dual series of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and

antasy, TV and Film!
Angel, James Marster’s career includes regular recurring roles in now four series, Caprica, Torchwood, Smallville and Without a Trace. Add film roles like Dragonball: Evolution and voice work for Superman/Doomsday as Lex Luthor and Mr. Fantastic from The Super Hero Squad Show and its no wonder he’s a fan favorite! The heart-throb fan favourites don’t stop there though, especially when you have a bit of British with Doctor Who and Torchwood’s, Gareth David-Lloyd. So popular was he with the fans that now, two years later, after Ianto Jones was written out of the series, i.e. killed, their cries to bring him back are undiminished. Our last guest, Corin Nemec, starred as the lead in the cult US series, Parker Lewis Can’t Lose, before landing the role of Jonas Quinn in Stargate SG-1. His involvement with the series rose to the point where his final appearance in “Fallout” was written by him. Want a quality photo with one of the guests or perhaps their autograph? Ever wanted to ask that burning question which they might know the answer to? With daily photo sessions*, autograph signings* and free Q&A seminars, you can at Supanova!

Heaps of Comic-Book and Manga Ar
The Best of the Best Team-Ups! We always strive to have cool international guests, great local talent, a full Artists’ Alley and truckloads of trades and back-issues for the collectors. We’ve done it again! Last year we wrote it sometimes take years for a plan to come together and, just like then, it couldn’t be truer as we present one of the absolutely dream creative teams of Marv Wolfman and George Pérez! Their union started ever so innocuously in Power Man #27 back in 1975 before exploding with New Teen Titans #1 in 1980 and reaching a crescendo with Crisis on Infinite Earths, a series that still defines the current DC Universe. Comparatively George was still a new kid on the block but quickly found his feet with The Avengers and Fantastic Four. Memorable runs ensued until he went over to DC where he also worked on Justice League of America and, what would become a perennial favourite, Wonder Woman. He eventually found his way back to Marvel where he helped reboot The Avengers before heading back to DC for Infinite Crisis and Final Crisis: Legion of Three Worlds with so much, much more in between. Marv Wolfman on the other hand started writing back at the tail end of the Silver Age and cut his teeth on series such as House of Secrets

and Tomb of Dracula before his output would make Bendis or Johns shudder with Daredevil, Iron Fist, The Defenders, The Champions, Master of Kung-Fu to name but a few. When he went to DC he simultaneously took on Batman, Green Lantern, Adventure Comics and The New Teen Titans. For gaming and comic-book fans, Jeffrey ‘Chamba’ Cruz, has everyone excited, fans and his publishers, as he’s knocked out brilliant monthly art out for Street Fighter II: Turbo without missing a beat! Udon’s excited, we’re excited and he’s excited to be visiting Brisbane and Melbourne in 2010! And Stewart McKenny has been amongst both the Brave and the Bold in tackling yet another project for D.C. Add them to his DC Super Friends and Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures credits and his portfolio runneth over! Meanwhile, Colin Wilson, one half of the Aussie contingent behind Star Wars: Invasion, is making sure Melbourne fans get to see him this year too! “KICK ASS” Exclusive Interview with
From the panel to the Screen! On behalf of Supanova, (Cool) Shite on the Tube duo, Bruce and Quinny, were lucky enough to talk to, Aaron Johnson, star of the upcoming superhero action comedy “Kick Ass.” Aaron is the title character, Kick Ass, a normal everyday Joe who decides to do something many of us have contemplated and that’s become a superhero! QUINNY: You play Dave who gets into a costume and decides to kick ass, is that about right Aaron? AARON: Yeah that’s about right, yeah (laughs). QUINNY: Fantastic, so, first and foremost, what’s your process for getting in the mindset of being "Kick Ass" AARON: I think for Dave it’s usually all about confidence, you know? He's really a nobody in school, and has nothing special about him so he dresses up as a superhero and when he puts the outfit on he feels like he's invincible and can take on the world. He puts on this confidence barrier and tries to fight crime but doesn't do too well.
28
BRUCE: How daunting was it being cast in this superhero film? AARON: It wasn't so daunting because, when we made it Matthew (Vaughn), the director, would always make jokes that we were just making a big budget home video thing, because we didn't have any distributors. We have kinda gone around and done a load of press screenings and all sorts of things, tests in LA, and it gets a good response, its got a good crowd following it over there, a lot of comic book fans. So it’s kind of gone off on its own steam really. It’s really lucky. BRUCE: So who is your favourite character in Kick Ass? AARON: I think we can all agree that its Hit Girl, she's a bad ass character. You know who I love? I just love Mark Strong. I think his performance is absolutely incredible; you know he's a proper badass as the top dog gangster Frank d'Amico. But Hit Girl is without a doubt the one, she's the one to watch really. She's good fun to watch. BRUCE: Beautiful! So what was your reaction when you saw the completed film? AARON: I haven't seen the completed film. I've seen loads of different rough cuts and I've been away for a month and a half. I'll probably

see it next week actually, in a couple of days, the finished version that is. And it’s all sort of changed. We also did a whole complete reshoot of the ending! (We) just re-scripted the ending about 6 months later, after we'd finished originally filming, we shot a whole other week of filming where they changed the ending. QUINNY: That’s a big change! So now the comic has still been coming out while the film is in productions, do you know whether the comic is ending in the same way the film is? Or was this re-shoot something to take it away from that? AARON: No, I don't know, I think they've just continued, you know, Mark Millar and Jane Goldblum, she’s the screen writer, and Ralphy, they keep the stories quite tight and quite close together, and you know when we started filming there were only three issues of Kick Ass, and it'd got to the first couple of scenes really, and by the time we'd finished filming we were on issue 5 and they'd only just introduced Red Mist! So we had the whole script before the issues were out. QUINNY: Its pretty ballsy of a comics creator to say "here, make my film of a comic that isn't even finished yet" isn't it? So did you have much contact with Mark Millar, the
creator of the original book during production? AARON: Oh, yeah, they came on set quite a few times, John Romita Jr and Mark Millar, they were on set quite a bit yeah. QUINNY: Just to wrap it up, what advice would you give to somebody who wanted to be a superhero? AARON: Hmmm… God I don't know, take some serious like weaponry! A samurai sword or something... Unless you really do have powers and then… Get some like backup ammo and $h1t… QUINNY: Right, go in armed to the gills… AARON: Yeah, go in prepared. QUINNY: I was half expecting it to just be “Don’t!” AARON: Ha-ha, that’s a good one too. QUINNY: Aaron, thanks for joining us and we really hope the film…Kicks…Ass!
KICK ASS is only at the movies April 8th!
