The journey of creating The Great Cullompton Festival started with a phone call from a lady that said she had a field, and we could rent it if we wanted. A couple of weeks later, on a semi-dry day in September, I met with the Chairman of the CCA fields, Mr Iain Emmett.

Within 24 hours we came up with a name and a plan. With 32 acres to play with, we decided to go big. The name came from the simple idea that the event would be in Cullompton, and it would be great!

We have two days of live music and amazing DJs. Over 200 businesses both near and far will be present on the fields

over the weekend. There will be classic cars, rides, inflatables, entertainment, food, beer, cider – or, if it’s your tipple, treat yourself to a glass of bubbly.

The only thing that makes all these things greater still is that it’s free for the people of Cullompton to attend. Those that live further away will have to pay just £10 a day to park in the fields.

All you need to do to make our hard work worth it is turn up. Bring your family and tell all your friends.

Formed in 2004, and with over 600 gigs under their (studded) belts, Falling Apart has supported punk legends/notable acts like The Vibrators, Vice Squad, 999, Subhumans, Tenpole Tudor, Soap Girls, Millie Manders and The Shut Up – and, er, The Wurzels!

They’ve also played on the same bill as (The Incredible World of ) Arthur Brown and in front of Mike Peters and The Alarm at The Gathering.

They’ve even played on stage with the iconic T.V. Smith (The Adverts) and Matt Sargent (Chelsea, Sham 69, Splodgenessabounds).

In 2019, the band released its first original album entitled Flying Rats, and shortly

afterwards appeared at The Great British Alternative Music Festival.

Professional and versatile, they offer semi-acoustic and full electric sets of their large repertoire of songs, and they are as much at home playing a small venue or party as they are a festival stage.

Infinite Horse are a three-piece Riff-Rock band from Bristol. Originally from Newbury, they moved to Bristol during the pandemic to explore the city’s larger music scene. They like to play hard, energetic but light-hearted music that makes you move.

Their songs draw influence from all over the musical spectrum and they are currently selfrecording their debut album, which they hope to release very soon now. You can already hear them by visiting their Spotify page, which has their first single, Dirty Horse. @infinitehorseband

SUNDAY 7.30PM Dirty Blueprint pack a punch! Phrases like ‘utter filth’ and the ‘mighty DB’ seem to repeatedly crop up for them when they feature on band listings and gig flyers!

Their aim is to produce a sound that is contemporary but has a feel that can be traced back through to earlier music – they kinda feel ‘Indie Blues’ sums them up well. Their live performances are

polished and believable, cause they love it, and they mean it!

TREVOR JAMES SATURDAY 7PM

Trevor’s musical career started when he learned to play the trumpet at the age of 7 – inspired by his love of Herb Alpert’s Tijuana Taxi. With a love of music from The Beach Boys and lots of influence from his older sister’s vinyl collection – in particular, Land of the Grey and Pink by Caravan, Ted Nugent, Santana and King Crimson, you could say his taste and influence is very eclectic.

Trevor is joined by an incredible band made up of Gary Pickard (lead guitar), Russell Lemon (drums) and Phil Moore (bass guitar).

Gary has travelled the world performing

BENJAMIN HAYCOCK SUNDAY 6.30PM

as a session guitarist, as well as playing on some notable songs with such artists as R-Kelly and Rose Royce.

Russell was the original drummer for Persian Risk, a Heavy Metal band formed in 1979. The band featured Phil Campbell as its founding member – well known for his later Motorhead success).

Phil has played with party band the Normal Hawaiians, The Rokkits and the tribute band Derek Clapton. www.trevorjames.band Benjamin Haycock blends melodic, percussive and fingerstyle guitar with honest, personal and accomplished lyricism that is up there with the best. He laces this with incredibly tight rap flows and raw, emotive and powerful singing vocals. This is all interwoven to create a truly unique sound with strong character that derives from his personal experiences growing up in inner city Birmingham and later Devon.

In 2021, Benjamin appeared on The Voice UK and astounded the coaches by doing an emotional rendition of his original song Restlessness that he wrote as a letter to his late father. Suffice to say, all four of the coaches turned around. He subsequently released Restlessness as a single, which topped the iTunes singer-songwriter charts. He followed up this success by releasing his second EP, Enigma’s Quay.

Benjamin started 2022 strong, with the release of his single Homeless Winters, which he partnered with the biggest homeless charity in the UK, Shelter. He committed to giving 50% of the proceeds from the song to helping homelessness within the South West. www.benjaminhaycock.com

How do you summarise the extraordinarily pleasing sounds that Sierra make? Well, you could start by saying something like: ‘They’re somewhere between Rock and Electronica, with a liberal splash of Jazz harmony’.

Described as ‘anthemic’ by those who have seen them perform live, they’re more accurately referred to as a rabble of lunatics who somehow get the job done.

Embracing a DIY ethos, Sierra write, record and produce their music out of a flat in central Bristol. Their latest offering Screaming into the Void, is an adventurous undertaking – Romantic-era piano compositions alongside

three solid minutes of guitar soloing, a postRock colossus and a sound which the group have dubbed ‘Jazzgaze’.

Released in early 2022 through Blvnc Records and received by a sold-out crowd from across the UK at local stomping ground The Louisiana, Screaming into the Void has made restrained but respectable waves across the live scene of Bristol.

Try Me is a genre nonconforming girl-boy duo comprised of Hector Boogieman and Bendy Wendy. The duo was formed after the famous alien invasion of Bristol (2019), joining forces to protect their community with flamboyant energy and catchy singles. The battle is still being fought today and they are in need of your help! Join them in their adventure to grow positive energy and giggles in hopes of a brighter future for Bristol-kind.

Their style is interwoven with multiple threads: from Funk-influenced basslines to abrasive, Electronic stompers, to 90s-styled Hip Hop. It’s clear they are attempting to create something new and authentic in the hopes of influencing the Contemporary Dance scene, utilising joy and silliness where things may have perhaps become too serious.

Venues they have frequented include Crofters Rights, The Old England and The Fleece where they supported Lynks. This list has unfortunately been cut short due to Covid-19.

Danny Burrito is an upcoming rapper and songwriter based in Bristol. Born and raised in South-East London, Danny grew up with a love for performing, featuring in various dramatic productions. Danny’s love for performance settled down until his mid-20s, when he was once again inspired by the jazz scene while studying in Exeter.

With his reignited passion for entertaining crowds, and a new-found sense of alternative communication, Danny Burrito was born.

Moving to Bristol, Danny immersed himself in the local music scene by frequenting many local jam sessions. Feeling welcomed into the scene and growing in confidence, Danny began to write his first EP which was later released in July 2020 under PHAT Recordings.

Danny boasts a unique delivery, blending styles from genres such as Spoken Word, Grime, Garage and Hip Hop. Drawing off influences such as The Streets and George the Poet, Danny defies convention, and places as much value in his lyricism as his showmanship.

When coupling impressively detailed, relatable storytelling, and captivating, emotionally driven performances, an unforgettable experience is created.

AMY ANDREWS Amy Andrews is a female solo singer based in Somerset. She travels all over the UK, performing for weddings, functions, parties, pubs, clubs and more! Singing a range of covers (Pop, Rock, Motown, Soul, Jazz and more) throughout the decades, as well as themed nights. From the 40s to the current day, each setlist is completely bespoke to the event she’s performing at.

Martin Barnes is an up-and-coming singer/songwriter from Devon. Brought up around Folk festivals, Martin has taken the storytelling aspect from his formative years and combined it with the gritty energy of Rock! You like lyrically driven songs with big choruses? Fyre Escape are a young and energetic Rock covers band, who formed at one of The Rock Project Exeter schools, managed By Classic Brit nominee, Thomas Cameron. They have already been booked for several festivals across the UK in 2022 and are building quite the following! @fyreescapeband

NO ORDINARY FISH No covers, all original! No Ordinary Fish, or NOF for short, are an Exeter-based four-piece originals band. Stu (drums and vocals), Debbie (vocals and guitar), Gary (bass) and Rich (guitar). They formed in 2018 after Stu and Debbie spent some years playing as an acoustic duo, then got the boys in to flesh out the sound. Their style is eclectic, ranging from 60s Pop to 90s Rock/Blues/Country. Their songs are crafted tastefully with melodic and catchy harmony vocals. Their debut album, …Press Start, is out now, and the second album is well under way.

THE HELLIONS Classic 90s and Britpop hits for those ‘arms in the air, singing along at the top of your voice’ moments. The Hellions bring nostalgia from that period in music when Britain once ruled the world.

The band are based in the Southwest, and they’re a five-piece made up of professional musicians. Oasis versus Blur and everything in between, so you’ll basically get all the anthems – but Union Jack waving is very much optional.

A rock covers band from the Southwest that were established in 2015 and have been playing gigs at venues throughout the West Country – including festivals, biker rallies, pubs and clubs.

Influences are early Punk songs from the Sex Pistols, The Clash, Billy Idol, Buzzcocks and The Stranglers – although they do cover many more up to date classics from Royal Blood, Queen, Stereophonics etc.

Stealth Legion are a high energy four-piece band who each bring their own influences due to the band’s age difference.

Audience participation is welcomed by the band at any gig so be prepared!

Here we have a brand-new acoustic duo performing throughout Devon this year.

Sasha Moyes is a singer/songwriter from Crediton and is accompanied by multiinstrumentalist and music producer Gaz Chatterton from Dawlish.

THEATRIKA

Jules started singing at the age of eight, then took up the guitar aged 13. Two years’ later, he was playing in pubs!

He’s been gigging on and off ever since, and likes to surprise audiences by occasionally doing songs most people wouldn’t expect a male vocalist to do – he recently covered Chandelier by Sia. As Jules says: “I was called brave. That was very kind as some might say crazy!”

Theatrika hail from the Southwest and are becoming a known force. The band started out as a virtual project in 2020 during lockdown, with members hailing from around the European continent.

The concept of the project was inspired

by June (the only original member in the band today) who searched for like-minded musicians in the Southwest of England.

The Funked Dimension was created by Colin Davies. Colin has been interested in music from an early age, but his real passion for DJing came in the early 90s with the creation of the Rave scene.

With a love of all types of music, Colin brings you into his world of Disco, Funk, Soul and Hip Hop – and even a little Drum & Bass. He loves a good re-edit of a classic song to get the crowd dancing and singing along.

Maintaining an unquestionably highoctane output on their emergent label X-AMNT since its formation last year, co-founders and frequent collaborators Bunjy and Kickback return this July with another team-up: the boisterous new Drum & Bass single, Cold Lock.

THE ROCK PROJECT PIANO PACE Exeter-born Piano Pace started learning piano one month shy of his fourth birthday. He took to it immediately and instinctively, playing music by ear.

Pace composed his first piano compositions aged eight, when asked to perform for a concert – which can be viewed on his YouTube channel, ‘Piano Pace’. He hopes to continue his love of writing and playing his own music.

The Rock Project is the premier school for children’s contemporary music tuition.

They offer group lessons in electric guitar, bass guitar, drums and vocals, and the opportunity for young people aged 7-18 to put their musical skills into practice by performing regularly each week.

Each two-hour session includes an hour of tuition with a maximum of five students per tutor. In their lesson they will not only learn their instrument, but a new song every two weeks.

Over the year, students will build up a set list of songs to perform, and every July they host their big end-of-year gig on the main stage at The Exeter Phoenix!
