The Wells Film Centre was established in 1992 by Derek Cooper. Originally a village hall and scout hut, Derek built the cinema up from a single screen to the three state-of-the-art digital screens it now houses. In the last couple of years, Derek has passed the management of the Wells Film Centre over to his daughters Sally, Becky and Libby, who share Derek’s passion for film and will ensure that the Wells Film Centre remains a family business that the whole community can enjoy. even more of what made the first one such a gem from start to finish. The Guardians are back, but their ranks have swelled with the addition of three new members: Yondu Udonta (Michael Rooker) and Nebula (Karen Gillan) from the first movie, and the all-new Mantis (Pom Klementieff). The galaxy is still in crisis, but this sequel, as well as ramping up the action and humour (just check out any of the trailers for proof of that), answers many of the questions raised by the first film – and introduces to you to Ego, Starlord’s father, who’s played to perfection by the alwaysexcellent Kurt Russell.

YOOKA-LAYLEE
FROM: Team17 FORMATS: PC, PS4, XBox One
I
f there’s one gaming genre that’s ripe for a reboot it’s the platformer. While we patiently wait for Super Mario Odyssey on the Switch, we’ve got this gem from the new development team, Playtonic Games. Yooka-Laylee (geddit?) unashamedly apes practically every classic platformer from gaming past, including Mario, Banjo-Kazooie (more on that below) and even games like Spyro the Dragon and Croc. You have an open world to play in, tons of collectables and bonuses, multiplayer modes (eight of ‘em), boss fights and even retro arcade games to play. The buzz for this one is huge, and with the pedigree of the team behind it, we have every belief that Yooka-Laylee will be a classic in the making.
TALKINGSHOP
Insane Games, located in St. Cuthbert Street, is one of the best independent gaming stores around, with helpful and knowledgeable staff that are always on hand to help find the perfect game for you. Not only does it have a wide selection of the latest games but also a massive range of used titles for both the current gaming machines and also the classic consoles, too.
PLAY-WHO? Playtonic Games may be a new development team, but they’re made up of some of the brightest minds from the mighty Rare software house – who brought us Donkey Kong Country, Banjo-Kazooie and GoldenEye on the N64. You could say that Yooka-Laylee is a spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie, which is no bad thing at all.
Finished all your games and seen everything at the cinema? Then you really should take advantage of Insane Games’ brilliant 6 for a Fiver DVD deal. They’ve got a

COMMUNITYNEWS NEED DIY HELP? CALL ARP PROPERTY MAINTENANCE
I
n a recent poll, B&Q, found that 66% of home owners have unfinished DIY jobs around the house, with more than half saying they don’t know how to complete them. It highlights just how many of us embark on DIY that either goes wrong, falls apart or is never completed. Does this ring a bell? Have you unfinished tiling in the bathroom or just need a hand getting the garden to a manageable state? I have always enjoyed painting, decorating, grouting, garden care and home improvements, and I have worked extensively on my own houses – one was completely run down and needed renovating. I love to see the finished product, bringing properties back to life!

HEALTH & VITALITY SIMPLE SELF-CARE WITH MELT®
22 April 2017, 10.15am – £15
Around 80% of all care in the UK is self-care. Despite people’s willingness to initially self-treat, there are still 57 million GP consultations a year for minor ailments at a total cost to the NHS of £2 billion, which takes up, on average, an hour a day for every GP. Do you get aches, pains, feel stiff and achy in the morning, lack energy, have tension in your body brought on by everyday stress and overuse? Do you use your hands constantly for hobbies, your profession, sport, fitness, or have issues with your hands or feet? If you feel it in your body then you have an issue in your connective tissue! Would you like to learn a simple self treatment that you can do at work or home? The NHS, Age UK and GPs all agree that staying active is important for health and well-being. So too, is how we move and being conscious of the quality of our movements. Our bodies are designed to help us, but just like plugging too many items into a socket can overload it and fry the circuits, we too can become overloaded. But we are so clever at adapting that our bodies find a way to continue – but at what cost? How about selfcare that is proactive rather than reactive. How about something that can take just 5-23 minutes, even a quickie to help your body and nervous system get back on track and reboot? At the MELT® Introduction Workshop on 22 April at 10.15am you will learn simple self-care treatments and experience changes in how your body feels. Learn how to help your whole body by just treating your hands and feet. Learn how to quickly rehydrate connective tissue while allowing your body to let go of long-held tension. The MELT® Method is the very first hands-off Bodywork® method developed for the general
public as a self-care tool to prevent and relieve chronic pain. It’s an essential addition to any wellness or fitness routine. Move Better Feel Free with MELT® To book a place on the Introductory MELT® workshop on Saturday 22 April at 10.15am at Pilates Body Aligned Studio, Wells, call 07973 852529 or email zoisa@zoisaholder.co.uk.
