I WISH I COULD SAY THAT ALL THE STUFF I COLLECT IS FILED, NEATLY IN BOXES. CLEARLY LABELLED FOR INSTANT ACCESS - WHEN I SAY INSTANT ACCESS I’M NOT TALKING ABOUT HAVING GIGABYTES OF CONTENT AVAILABLE WITH A CLICK AND A POINT, I’M TALKING ABOUT GETTING SOME LADDERS OUT OF THE SHED, CARTING THEM UPSTAIRS, FINDING A TORCH, GETTING UP IN THE LOFT AND AT LEAST BEING ABLE TO HALF GUESS AT WHICH BOX SOMETHING IS IN. IT’S NOT ALWAYS FILED AWAY NEATLY BUT THEN AGAIN I QUITE ENJOY COMING ACROSS A MYSTERY BOX OF RANDOM STUFF - THE STUFF THAT YOU HAD NO WHERE ELSE TO PUT & CAN THROW UP A FEW SURPRISES. NESTLED AT THE BOTTOM OF ONE SUCH BOX WAS A YELLOW CARD FOLDER FULL OF COPIES OF BLACK & WHITE CLIP ART. THESE WERE GENERIC ILLUSTRATIONS AND GRAPHIC ELEMENTS CREATED FOR USE BY PRINTERS AND JOBBING STUDIOS TO “CLIP” OUT AND PASTE INTO ARTWORK - PRIMARILY ON CHEAP ADS, FLYERS AND MENUS, JOBS WITH NO BUDGET FOR COMMISIONING ILLUSTRATIONS. THE FOLLOWING PAGES SHOW A BUNCH OF IMAGES I HAVE PHOTOCOPIED FROM SHEETS AND BOOKS WHENEVER I HAVE COME ACROSS THEM. I’VE ALSO BULKED THIS ISSUE OUT WITH SOME IMAGES FROM BOOKS I’VE COLLECTED WHICH FEATURE THE SAME SORT OF STUFF, MOST NOTABLY THE DOVER CLIP-ART SERIES & THE DADDY OF ALL FOUND ILLUSTRATION/CLIP ART PROJECTS, THE VERY FANTASTIC ‘CRAP HOUND’. ENJOY.
