ALBUM COVER, ART 224 My interpretation of Allan Kingdom’s album titled Northern Lights. As an independent hip hop I used a collage style to make a very DIY style and feel fitting to the surrealist collage aesthetic that is re-emerging in today’s hip hop album artwork. Using gold color to fit his jewelry and style as well as his sing songy sound.

I wanted the covers to appeal to a more mature audience, one that has grown up with the series. While moving away from the cliche thematic illustration style that is common in this genre I applied a modern approach and vivid colors to the series.

TITLE SEQUENCE, ART 224 One of the key elements about design is that it exists everywhere including the media in which we consume via movies, TV shows, and the web. The theatrical intro seen on such films and shows like True Detective, 007, and pioneered by Saul bass the value of an artistic title sequence is now recognized and sought after today. After its name, Pulp Fiction, is a type of cheaply produced media that has developed a specific and rough aesthetic and texture that feels nothing but original. I wanted to call to that paper texture and comic book style illustration within the portrayal of each character and the recreated torn paper effect that houses them.

I wanted to really portray the element of love as seen with the color scheme and dynamic pictures showing the artist in their element. I wanted to experiment with the transparency to mimic the airy floating in-love feeling.

TYPE SPECIMEN, ART 254 Cooper black is a legend in the world of typefaces with its iconic rounded feel and bold letters, primarily used in the 70’s and 80’s as well as the adult and food industry. I wanted to capture this era of aesthetic in a cool and bold way by incorporating anaglyph 3D treatment to pay homage to the classic drive in movie experience.

TYPECON, ART 200 The 2017 Type Convention was home to some of the most creative and innovative designers and business people that exist today. Celebrating everything that is type and design, my task was to create a themes pamphlet that had both excellent form and function. The theme was one simple word: Resound which means to fill a place with sound and echo. Drawing from sounds wavelengths and bold black and yellow color scheme I created a pamphlet that was fun to hold and interact with while remaining functional and useful as well as bold and modern.
