We aim to provide captains, crew and owners peace of mind by doing the background research for you - allowing you to focus on the important task of running and enjoying your boat!
Before arriving in any new port or anchorage, you are probably looking for services to help complete a job list - maybe a customs or provisioning agent, a dependable driver to pick up guests, a florist, a reliable engineering firm, or even a doctor to sign off an ENG1 medical.
So, who should you use and where should you go? There is an abundance of search engines and publications, with no end to accessing information. But how do you know who is genuinely reputable and trusted?
Our detailed directory contains services who have each received 3+ recommendations from yacht captains and crew. Over time, captains and crew slowly acquire a database of reliable contacts: these quality contacts represent part of their ability to perform roles on board.
Throughout 2023 and 2024, our local authors have physically spent time in mainland Spain and The Balearics to research the most accurate and up to date information from captains, crew and services. Their feedback is always listened to and actioned accordingly by our team. In the same way we will research new recommendations, we also remove services after receiving poor feedback.
For these reasons, we have become renowned as being the leading and most trusted directory for superyacht services.
The need for a directory of reliable services was the very ‘raison d’être’ for Andrew Blatter founding the Superyacht Services Guide in 2002… to collate a ‘Captain’s Inside Guide’ of recommended services, for others to be able to access, and share the benefits of each other’s collective experience.

Born and educated in Argentina, and then Belgium and England, Caroline learnt to adapt to an often changing environment, and developed a passion for languages, travel and embracing other cultures. She trained as a physiotherapist, working in England and Australia and later volunteered as a medic with ABSAR, in Antigua. She's also a qualified Learning Difficulties Teacher, having worked in the early 1990's at the international schools in Mallorca.
With a love of the sea, the outdoors and adventure, Caroline has sailed over 30,000 miles with late husband Andrew, in the Med and Caribbean, chartering, managing a prominent new build, and living on their own boat with their growing young family for 6 years! Home has been Mallorca, Antigua, and now England.
Having set Superyacht Publications up with Andrew in 2002, Caroline now manages the business as well as researching and writing for all regions. She continues to love the outdoors, sport and travel when time permits, connecting with family and friends around the world, as well as sharing precious family life with four children and two labradors!
Yachting has always been a major part of Tristan’s life. He spent 15 years growing up in Mallorca and Antigua on his family’s 37-foot cruising ketch, completed an Atlantic crossing and accrued over 20,000 nautical miles. It was a perfect fit when he secured his first job cleaning the North Sails loft in Antigua, at the young age of 10.
Tristan has been working in the Superyacht industry since 2016, where he was a deckhand onboard a 46-meter superyacht and then continued gaining yachting experience alongside his studies at the University of Bath. After graduating with a first-class degree, he gained valuable experience working for a marketing firm in London before joining the Superyacht Services Guide team in 2023.
As World Correspondent, he puts extensive effort researching and developing Australia, New Zealand and the Asia - Pacific region, as well as supporting the team in the Mediterranean and Caribbean. You will always find Tristan at superyacht boat shows, where he meets with clients and explores new business opportunities for the Superyacht Services Guide.
Outside of working life, Tristan is a keen sportsman having competed in various county sports and regularly plays football, tennis and golf in the UK.
Born in Devon and raised in Hampshire, the sea has always been close by. With a father in the Royal Navy, she spent years of her life on ships and in dockyards developing a personal love for the ocean that has carried on throughout her life.
Her education and professional career has been hugely varied over the years - from hospitality, retail, sales and management, all the way to music production, radio presenting and journalism. Spending multiple years working in two different industries at the same time, her career has been diverse and eclectic, resulting in years of experience in many different backgrounds and work environments.
Rachel has joined the SSG team excited and ready to learn a lot more about the yachting industry and to work with top professionals within the world of Superyacht services!
Simon’s love of art and design started at an early age. As a boy he would often take his sketch pad and watercolours to draw and paint the boats around Emsworth in Hampshire where he grew up.
After graduating with a degree in Graphic Design, Simon worked for a design company in London for a couple of years and then started out as a freelancer working for various clients in the UK, working his way back to the South of England again in the early 90s where he is now permanently based.
In 1995, he set up Simon Udal Design and designed the first Superyacht Services Guide in 2002.
Outside of work, Simon enjoys watching and playing all sports, particularly tennis and squash and loves family life with his wife and two children.
The America's Cup, often referred to as the "Auld Mug," is the oldest international sporting trophy with a rich history dating back to 1851. The competition originated in England when the yacht "America" won a race around the Isle of Wight, earning the trophy that would later become known as the America's Cup. The trophy was subsequently donated to the New York Yacht Club (NYYC), who held it for 132 years, (1851 - 1983) the longest winning streak in the history of sport. Incredibly, the Cup has only been won by four teams from the United States, Switzerland, Australia and New Zealand. The America’s Cup has no fixed schedule, but the racing is generally held every three to four years, with Emirates Team New Zealand the current defenders. Louis Vuitton has returned as the official title partner of the 37th edition of the America’s Cup Barcelona.
The 37th Louis Vuitton America’s Cup will be held in Barcelona, with the opening ceremony on Thursday 22nd August 2024. Five events then follow, including the Louis Vuitton Cup (Challenger Series), leading up to the final Louis Vuitton America’s Cup match starting on October 12th 2024.
The team bases are located within the Port Vell area and surrounded by the America’s Cup village, which can host tens of thousands of spectators each day. The racecourse is set just beyond the port entrance breakwaters and is strategically positioned in front of large fan zones, beach viewing platforms and a hospitality area providing the perfect vantage point.
The format will see five teams competing for the right to challenge Emirates Team New Zealand and will consist of several races leading up to the finale in October 2024. Firstly, the teams will compete in match races for the Louis Vuitton Cup (Challenger Series) in a round robin and final stage format. The round robin sees each team racing one another, with two teams qualifying for the final stage. The winner of the final stage will be the first team to score at least seven points - winning each race is equivalent to scoring one point.
The winner of the Louis Vuitton Cup will then go head-to-head with the Defender Emirates Team New Zealand in a best of 13-race match, to challenge for the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup. Each race will be a match race between the two teams – with the winner of each race scoring one point, and the loser scoring no points. The first team to score seven points will claim the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup.
The AC75s are the pinnacle of foiling monohull yachts. These one-design yachts represent a technological advancement surpassing conventional boats, comparable to Formula 1 cars and everyday vehicles. Designed to maximise efficiency by reducing hull-drag, with foils that lift them above the water – these yachts can hit speeds approximately 4x faster than the wind, circa 50 knots (almost 100kph)!
In the upcoming 37th Louis Vuitton America’s Cup, the second generation of AC75s will be even faster, incorporating wider foils and extensive refinements in every department. Operated by a crew of eight, these vessels will be steered by some of the most accomplished sailors in the world.
AC37 SUPERYACHT PROGRAMME

As the current holder of the America’s Cup, Emirates Team New Zealand will be guaranteed a place in the final Cup match. The team represents the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron, which is the oldest and most successful yacht club in New Zealand. Having reclaimed the Cup in Bermuda 2017 and successfully defended it in 2021, the Kiwi’s have set their sights on another successful Defence in Barcelona 2024.
The Challenger of Record is the name given to the first yacht club to challenge the holder of the America’s Cup once it has been won. Immediately after Emirates Team New Zealand defended the cup in 2021, the Royal Yacht Squadron issued a challenge on behalf of Ben Ainslie’s INEOS Britannia - becoming the official Challenger of Record.
INEOS Britannia have been working alongside the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 team for the past three years, benefitting from the engineering and technical experience of the multiple F1 Champions. The leadership team consists of Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Sir Ben Ainslie, David Endean, James Allison and Toto Wolff.
Pushing the boundaries of innovation, design and clean technology in the America’s Cup and wider yachting industry, all teams must build and operate two hydrogen powered foiling chase boats for their campaign.
The Italian team, Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli has competed for the America’s Cup since 2000 and has come close on several occasionsnotably in 2000 and 2021, where they won the Challenger Series, before losing out to Team New Zealand on both occasions. The Italians have never won the America’s Cup, but will be hoping for ‘buona fortuna’ when they race again in Barcelona.
The aim is to demonstrate established hydrogen technology in the maritime sector, paving the way for transformative advancements across the industry and notably decreasing carbon emissions. These boats must adhere to a minimum length of 10 meters, with specific guidelines for their usage and performance outlined in the Protocol.
The New York Yacht Club’s American Magic competed for the Cup in Auckland 2021, although their racing was ruined by a dramatic and damaging capsize early in the Challenger Series. The New York Yacht Club has a longstanding history with the America’s Cup having held it for 132 years, from its inception in 1851 through to 1983 where they were defeated by the Australians. American Magic will once again be representing the New York Yacht Club, as the American’s look to reclaim the prestigious trophy.
Alinghi Red Bull racing are returning to America’s Cup after a long break. The Swiss team won the America’s Cup in 2003 and completed a successful defence in 2007. However, a serious dispute over the rules in 2010 saw Larry Ellison and his BMW Oracle team take legal action against Alinghi. Consequently, the 2010 America’s Cup unfolded as a ‘Deed of Gift’ match between the two teamswith BMW Oracle winning the contest and Alinghi stepping away from America’s Cup racing. Their return is massively welcomed, and their noteworthy Cup history alongside collaboration with Red Bull racing suggests they will pose a formidable challenge from the outset.
This newly implemented rule requires 100% of the race crew to either be a passport holder of the country of the teams yacht club, as of 17th March 2021 OR to have been physically present in that country for 18 months of the previous three years prior to 17th March 2021. The only exception is a discretionary provision allowing a limited number of non-nationals on the race crew for competitors from 'Emerging Nations.'
The French entry to the 2024 Louis Vuitton America’s Cup was speculated for some time. However, it wasn’t until early 2023 that they officially confirmed their intention to challenge. The French first competed for the America’s Cup in 1970 and despite their late entry to the event, will aim to mount a competitive challenge in Barcelona.
