JOHN TAN TALKS TO ACTOR, RYAN MCPARTLIN 1. You were born and raised in Chicago, Illinois...can you recall your earliest memories of how you got the acting bug? At what point did you actually decide the acting life is for you? I didn't get the acting bug until late in life, but when I was in college I used to write my own speeches on different topics and deliver them in fromt of the class. I quickly realized that when I made those speeches funny, I got better grades and held the attention of the audience. I also got a rush from hearing the laughter and that's probably why I enjoy doing comedy more than anything. 2. We all have heroes or people we look up to as mentors, who are yours? What have you picked up from them and apply to your own personal acting craft today? I'm easily inspired. My heroes are constantly changing, but I like to see people reach their potential in any field and take what I can from reading about them. Right now, I'm reading about Steve Jobs and the more I learn about him, the more I'm motivated to excel in my choices and my career. 3. Like some actors, you started your career early through modeling (working for Abercrombie & Fitch with renown photographer Bruce Weber) and daytime television (the soap, Passions)...could you share with us your experience in that brief tenture and any advise for aspiring models who want to get into acting. If you are a model with a sense of humor, it goes a long way in Hollywood. No matter who you are, embrace your insecurities and shortcomings and don't take yourself too seriously. 4. Was it a tough road for you to make it in Hollywood? Could you share with us some of the early struggles (if any) you had at the beginning of your career? I did everything and anything for a buck in my early years, including waiting tables and bartending, but I always had a goal in mind and I really enjoyed being around people, so the early years were fun for me even if they were a struggle. 5. With the economic downturn, declining box office draws at the theaters and the rise of internet users watching from home, how do you feel about the state of the entertainment industry as a whole, do you feel there are gonna be major changes ahead? Do you think

Major changes in the entertainment industry take time because it's still a business and everyone still has to get paid to support the business.
