Charles Eames It takes an awful lot to be seen as an icon, a hero, a legend. Charles Eames was all three. If you’re not familiar with the world of interior design and architecture, you may not be fully aware of Eames and the reputation which proceeds him but, rest assured, the St. Louis born designer has gone down in the annuls of history as one of the finest designers of his, or any, generation. And, as you can see, he was a devilishly stylish bugger to boot. Born in 1907, Charles Eames enjoy a meteoric rise and his popularity was pure and simple – he was great at what he did. Namely, design revolutionary, out of the box thinking designer furniture. He was also a wonderfully and devilishly eccentric fellow and incredibly snappy dresser and it would be a rare occasion indeed to catch Eames not rocking a brilliant bow-tie or some other stylish accessory. Alongside his, equally stylish wife, Ray, Charles Eames was responsible for designing some of the most iconic and celebrated pieces of designer furniture of the 20th century – the most revered of which is probably the utterly stunning Eames DSW Chair which, quite frankly, revolutionised the world of furniture design and, such is the reverence in which it is held, the piece can be seen on permanent display in the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. Eames was undoubtedly a free spirit in the style stakes and dressed without putting a sartorial foot wrong his entire adult life more or less and this flagrant sense of style was most certainly reflected in his furniture designs. If you’re looking for a design AND style icon, Charles Eames is definitely your man. He was one of the 20th century’s most colourful characters and his designs have a timeless appeal that have continued well into the 21st century. Now, we all just need to dress like this undeniably dapper chap. See more of Eames’ designer furniture from Swivel UK Written by Leo Parker for Client Magazine

Topman Spray-on Jeans AW/13 Skinny jeans have been a staple piece in every guy’s wardrobe and they now appear to dress an entire cultural spectrum. Ubiquitous for years on the high street and catwalks; S/S14 further highlighted how the super tight jean is a perfect partner to a succession of fashion looks. Once seen as a middle finger in society by the likes of the rebellious Sid Vicious the skinny jean is now regarded as a necessity by a large variety of people. Whether you wear them with a tailored shirt or style them with an urban twist the skinny jean has become synonymous with all men from all walks of life. Tuesday 24th September Topman will launch their new campaign of the Spray On Jeans: How We Wear Them and will show you how and why the ‘hard to wear’ jean has become one of their best selling products.
Gordon Richardon the Creative Director at Topman says ‘it all comes down to the styling’ which is made easy by the diversity of coordinates to team the spray on jeans with. Not only have they created over 30 styles but they have added personality and extra details to suit everybody. From acid washes, bold colours, studs, distressed detail, and leather looks; the possibilities pose a greater reason for why they will become a wardrobe essential and at just £30-£45 you can’t afford to not invest in the new spray on trend. FARAH 1920 AW/13
FARAH 1920 is a stylish and rugged collection that celebrates the “Heroes of Invention”, where events and clothing of the 20th century are fused to produce reinvented classics and inspired contemporary pieces.
We’re all pretty aware of FARAH, it’s a brand that’s been around for a LONG time. FARAH was born in 1920 in the US, but it was not until the 1970’s in the UK that it really found it’s niche. In fact, i used to wear Farah trousers as part of my secondary school uniform in the 80’s, as well as pairs outside of school. So it’s a brand that many generations have grown up with. The original FARAH slack made from hopsack canvas became an immediate hit with the youth of Britain: slim cut, sharply tailored and featuring stain resistant technology, the trouser was unlike anything around during that time. It’s ironic that i should mention the ’80‘s as it’s that time that FARAH became a must have label amongst teens and fashion savvy hipsters; Mods, Skins & Rocker-Billys. Widely accepted and
embraced across the UK music scene, each group adopted the brand within their own style. Today the FARAH label still stands by their heritage – utilising the quality and vigour it’s become known for. The FARAH 1920 AW/13 collection combines workwear with precise tailoring and key autumn colours – rich earthy tones like Almond and Coacoa, the warmth of Ruby, Gold and Bordeaux whilst Dark Indigo, Petrol and Teal “to reflect the utilitarian element underpinning the range” – well said. All of this makes it an obvious choice today’s youth, smart gentlemen or those who prefer the outdoors who aren’t happy unless they are abseiling down a mountain! Quite an achievement for a collection. Written by Ian Cole, Editor-in-Chief
