MARTIN KEEHN FW/14 Written by Katrice Dustin New York based designer Martin Keehn began his namesake label in 2010 by merging with his innovative Nolita boutique and studio Wearmart. This enabled him to create the perfect interpretation of his love for classic American sportswear while slickly combining the distinctive provocative edge he has become known for.
familiar items such as hoodies and baseball-cut sweats make an appearance and are introduced in a heavy cotton fleece as well as a “dad leisure” inspired patchwork version. Mini cargos are presented in classic cotton twills and ticking, and feature a modern twist with chunky plastic zippers.
Martin’s new offering for Fall/Winter 2014 plays with the sort of irony that creates the best styling opportunities; the sometimes not so obvious paradoxical elements that live inside all of us. Mixing classic men’s shirting with forward thinking accessories such as skull caps and NFL inspired hand-warmers, Keehn’s intention in creating a refreshing collection filled with such a myriad of juxtaposing elements becomes enrichingly clear.
The multi-talented designer first broke onto the scene by producing clothing for famed photographer David Lachapelle and by collaborating with such big name brands as Balenciaga, Calvin Klein and Bill Blass. For Fall/Winter 2014 Martin Keehn demonstrates his uniquely definitive take on menswear with a collection that proves his talent for conveying the covetable nature of urban street wear in a way that continues to remain interesting and ultimately wearable.
As with previous collections, leather continues to stay at the forefront, and features tank tops and capes in a luxurious lambskin mesh fabric, while touches of leather can be seen on detachable collars on dress shirts as well as in the form of piping on v neck shirts. “I feel strongly about leather in all seasons,” says the designer. While this may be true, more

J
udson Harmon founded the concept boutique and styling house ØDD in October 2012, and at just 21 years old has made a name for himself as a successful entrepreneur, designer and model. After studying music and dance in his hometown of San Diego, California, Judson made the move to New York City in 2010, and since then has made a point of designing mens and womenswear from a forward thinking and genderless perspective, creating a fresh and dynamic approach to modern dressing. For their Fall/Winter mens and womens capsule collections at NYFW in October of 2013, ØDD offered imaginative silhouettes in inventive fabrics which focused on challenging classical handling techniques by employing experimental washing, staining and distressing of leathers. This allowed each garment to have its own unique texture and appearance, creating a more distinctive and ultimately personal approach
within the cloth itself. Judson is determined to maintain ØDD’s aesthetic of quality craftsmanship by taking pride in choosing domestic production at home in the USA at a factory in New York as opposed to producing abroad, allowing for a more home grown intention. As ØDD reached its second birthday, the innovative Lower East Side boutique continues to stock an ever evolving mix of both international and local design talents. Alongside its namesake label, this season sees a diverse mix of well-known brands such as Iris Van Herpen, Barbara Gongini, Y Project, Vivienne Westwood, Cedric Jaquemin, Jeremy Scott and inventive accessories and collectables by cult contemporary designers, as well as various fashion and lifestyle publications.
