FIRST IN BAMBOO

Over 20 Years of Innovation The story of Totally Bamboo began in a land of stories… well, just north of it. Tom and Joanne Sullivan owned Hollywood Chairs in North Hollywood, supplying director’s chairs to top movie and television productions. In a quest to improve upon their famously comfortable foldable chairs, the Sullivans began experimenting with other material options. They wanted something lighter than their existing oak chairs yet still strong enough to last through the production of a blockbuster picture (and its inevitable sequels). After exhaustive research, they found one material fit the bill better than any other— bamboo! Bamboo has a higher tensile strength than steel and the chairs were still light enough for anyone to carry. Not only is bamboo a better material option, but it’s better for the planet too. Despite its tough exterior, bamboo is actually a grass. When harvested, the roots remain and quickly regenerate. It’s a truly remarkable and renewable resource.

One year for the holidays, Tom and Joanne fashioned scraps from these director’s chairs to create the first bamboo cutting boards to give out as gifts. On a lark, they brought some to an art show in which they were exhibiting. They were stunned when the boards sold out in minutes. Joanne looked at Tom and said “this is our new product” and Totally Bamboo was born! Totally Bamboo has continued to innovate since the inception of the bamboo cutting board. These innovations have led to Totally Bamboo’s current lineup of masterfully crafted cutting boards, beautifully designed bowls, eye-catching utensils and smart storage solutions.

Art File Format: Artwork should be sent in single-color vector format (EPS, AI or PDF). Laser engraving is done in single color, so only single-color artwork is compatible. All type should be point size 8 or larger for best legibility. If vector format is not available, please provide artwork at a minimum of 300 dpi and sized twice as large as the intended production artwork size. Converting non-vector artwork may incur additional fees. Virtual Proof: A virtual proof of the engraved artwork will be provided for approval upon receipt of a purchase order. Totally Bamboo offers one free artwork revision. Additional artwork revisions may incur additional fees. Production Time: Once the virtual proof is confirmed and the order is complete, typical production time is 7 to 10 business days. Orders and proofs must be acknowledged in writing via email. Production time may vary with seasonality. Rush service may be available for an additional fee. Canceled Orders: Canceled orders will be subject to all costs incurred. Returns: Returns will only be considered for product that has not been lasered and is in resaleable condition. Contact Totally Bamboo within five business days of receipt of merchandise if there is an issue. All returns must have a return authorization (RA) from authorized Totally Bamboo personnel.
