Cities and surrounding rural areas where UNICEF and partners are reaching 93,000 Syrians. 90% are children and adolescents. 63,000 received one or more supply item: hygiene kits, stoves, mattresses, blankets, water, kits of complementary food (4 apricot jam, 4 halawh [a natural traditional food], 4 processed cheese and 4 packs of biscuit).

Inside Syria: Some Key Supplies in WASH and Education (Local, regional, and international procurement delivered between January and July 2012)

Baby hygiene kits: 36,000

Contains supplies such as diapers, zinc ointment, waterproof diaper covers for 1- 3 infants under 24 months old. A kit should last for 6 - 12 months.

Adult hygiene kits: 46,000

Contains supplies such as soap, toothpaste, towels, and sanitary pads for two adults. A kit should last for 1 month.

Family water kit: 300

Contains supplies such as soap, water purification tablets, buckets, jerry cans, and other WASH supplies for 10 families.

ECD kits: 216

Toys and games for pre-school children - Early Childhoold Development kits are essential in supporting psycho-social well-being. Each kit can serve around 50 children.

School kits: 346

Education kits for classroom learning, and specialised kits for teaching maths and science. Each kit covers 40 students.

School bags: 18,000

A bag filled with basic school supplies and distributed to individual children.

Recreation kits: 699

Sports equipment and musical instruments for children in schools and shelters. Each kit covers around 90 children.
