Actually, this exhibition combines with knowledge sessions on all 3 days is a commitment, as a Media house. This is just the beginning. As we know that any retail counter sell products that include in tune to 40-50% of ply, door, 20-25% of laminates, 5-10% of veneers and highlighter surfaces, 8-10 of PVC, MDF & Prelam Particle boards and rest as hardware, adhesive or allied items. This time we have focused to cover the larger product categories. And this focused approach is our First step as a baby step but we promise to fulfil your needs next time with bigger basket.

Retailers travel to different places to meet suppliers, and visit exhibitions to search for new products. They spend valuable time searching for new products, as they want to become the showstopper of their cities. They keep their products in the showrooms in a beautiful manner. Before, the showrooms were primarily in metro cities and tier one cities. But, in the last 5 years, many showrooms, display galleries, and presentable counters have emerged in tier 2 and tier 3 cities as well. But, the question arises: is it a sustainable retailing model? Is just showcasing products enough to grow? These are the burning questions, and everyone is willing to find these answers.
It is a fact that the retailers themselves should be the solution providers, but how can they serve more? If retailers become solution providers, they will benefit the entire wood panel industry and trade eco-system. They will assist the product in expanding its market. But, how can they create their module where they could become good solution providers?

RETAILERS HAVE TO BE SOLUTION PROVIDERS!
Rajiv Parashar, Editor
With changing consumer behaviour, it is not possible to scale up the business and do justice to the products on display, if the retailer only showcases. At the end, the dead stock increases and a mesh like situation gets created. So, think smart and create an ecosystem that can help you scale up the business and help to grow the brand and products.
The Ply Reporter is going to organise conferences, IIR (India Interior Retailing) that is going to be held on September 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, 2022 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The conferences will cover many such burning topics that are important for retailers. It is going to be presented in such a way that in these conferences you can find the answers to the above mentioned issues.
Retailers are the real driver of the Indian wood panel and decorative industry. They are the back bone or we can say, they are influencers, business people, and their activities or movements support the growth of the entire industry. It is a fact that in the last 10 years, the number of retail counters in India has doubled. Every city reports the emergence of new retail counters now and then, and many retailers have expanded their operations into big showrooms. They have invested in their infrastructure, display, and everywhere they are eager to grow further. But, do these steps help them to grow and sustain, how they can be an ideal for the next generation, what is the way forward? This is a million dollar question!
In this issue, part 2 of MATECIA PREVIEW has been presented, where the brands that are going to showcase their products in the exhibition have been covered. The one-to-one interaction with Mr Krupesh Thakkar, MD, Rushil Decor on impact of MDF in the market and a talk with Mr Nitin Vaze & Mr. Amit Vaze of Sleek Boards on their completion of 25 years in service to the industry are worth reading. Besides, there are many events, new launch coverage, and news reports related to the industry and trade, which along with the market updates will bring you the latest updates.

The industry stakeholders say that there are alternatives like coal and briquettes. But, that is also very costly. So, with the shortage of fuel timber and its viability factor, the industry is hardly able to run three to four days in a week. Timber traders say that every year the arrival of timber in the rainy season is reduced due to less felling of timber, although this year the arrival has been affected more than before because there is huge scarcity of timber. ckyu ;kuh ¶;wy oqM dh dhersa mÙkjh {ks= esa] fo'ks"k :i ls gfj;k.kk vkSj iatkc esa dkQh T;knk gSaA fLFkfr bruh fodV gS fd blds pyrs QSDVªh v‚ijs'ku ijs'kkuh esa iM x;k gS D;ksafd miyC/krk dh deh ds lkFk lkFk bldk d‚LV dbZ mRikndksa dks QSDVªh v‚isj'ku jksdus ij etcwj dj fn;k gSA ¶;wy oqM dh dhersa bl {ks= esa fiNys lky dh rqyuk esa yxHkx nksxquh gksus dh [kcj gS] lkFk gh bldh miyC/krk Hkh Bhd ugha gSA IykboqM fuekZrkvksa dks viuh ÅtkZ t:jrksa ds fy, ¶;wy oqM vkSj dksj fofu;j ds fy, dPps eky ds :i esa fVEcj dh [kjhn esa ijs'kkuh gks jgh gSA iatkc esa fLFkr mRikndksa us IykbZ fjiksVZj dks crk;k fd dher T;knk nsus ij fdlh rjg dksj fofu;j ds fy, fVEcj rks miyC/k gks tkrk gS ysfdu ¶;wy oqM miyC/k ugha gSA vkSj cktkj dh dhersa muds fy, fdlh Hkh rjg ls Bhd ugha gSA ;equkuxj ds IykboqM eSU;qQSDpjlZ dk dguk gS fd IykboqM ;wfuV esa bZa/ku ds :i esa bLrseky gksus okyh ydM+h dk mi;ksx vc dkQh ek=k esa ,eMh,Q vkSj ikfVZdy cksMZ cukus esa Hkh fd;k tkrk gSA ,eMh,Q vkSj ikfVZdy cksMZ ds fy, dPps eky ds :i esa bldh [kir c<us ds dkj.k bu fnuksa IykbZoqM ;wfuV ds fy, ¶;wy oqM dh Hkkjh deh gSA baMLVªh LVsdgksYMlZ dk dguk gS fd dks;yk vkSj fczdsV tSls fodYi gSa ij] ;g Hkh cgqr egaxk gSA blfy,] ¶;wy oqM dh deh vkSj bldh c<+h gqbZ dher ds pyrs baMLVªh eqf'dy ls lIrkg esa rhu ls pkj fnu py ikrs gSaA fVEcj ds dkjksckfj;ksa dk dguk gS fd gj lky cjlkr ds ekSle esa ydM+h dh vkod de gks tkrh gS D;ksafd bl oä fVEcj dh dVkbZ de gks tkrh gS] gkykafd bl lky vkod igys ls T;knk çHkkfor gqbZ gS D;ksafd ydM+h dh Hkkjh fdYyr gSA
Plywood manufacturers are in trouble in terms of timber procurement, both for firewood for their energy needs and as a raw material for core veneer. The producers based in Punjab said to The Ply Reporter that somehow the timber for core veneer is available at a higher cost but fire wood is not available. The market price is not affordable in any way. A similar situation is in the plywood hub of the north at Yamunanagar also. The plywood manufacturers say that the firewood kind to timber, which is used as fuel in plywood manufacturing units, is also used in making MDF and particle board. Due to its consumption as a raw material for MDF and particle board has increased these days, there is a scarcity of fuel wood for plywood units.

Fuel wood prices are extremely high in the northern region, especially in Haryana and Punjab. The situation is so aggravated that it has put the industry at operational bottlenecks because the availability as well as its cost viability is not there to go ahead for many producers. Fuel prices are reported to nearly double what they were last year in the region, despite the fact that its availability is not in a proper manner.

my father was doing business with a very good shop at Lathi Bajar in Ahmedabad, Gujarat as a wholesale trading. He had a laminate and a plywood manufacturing plant also. Later, he asked me to venture into laminate manufacturing. At that time, I had just completed my studies and was willing to go into business. After some observation, we acquired a running unit of laminate manufacturing, and then my journey in the decorative industries started from there. In that running unit, the quality was not so good, and we intended to offer the best quality in the market. So, we hired people who could make good-quality products. With our quality offering, demand for our material increased, but most people were still making 0.6mm laminate at the time. The price gap between MR KRUPESH THAKKAR, MD, Rushil Décor Ltd
1mm and 0.6mm was very high, so we decided to make 1mm. And, for that, we needed to have a good range of designs and papers that was possible only after procuring them from Germany or other European countries, and Japan. For that, we went to Germany and visited the Interzum exhibition also, but for the first time we did not get a good response. Later, we contacted their representative in India, and then good designs started coming. And with that, we got an excellent response in the market. The customers, interior designers, and architects expect something new every time, so we had to have a very good range. Later, we launched the Touch & Feel series. It also got a very good response, and we began to be counted among the top brands.
