Precision Craft Every day we set out to build sails that are better than any that have come before them. We evolve, tinker, test, question without compromise. In the end, we inevitably end up with something that is bigger than the sum of its parts. A NeilPryde feeling – where you just know when it’s right. Introducing the 2014 range, the next step in our journey to sailing perfection. We took the Forceline Panel idea from 2013 and evolved it into something bigger and better – a full sail concept where loads are dynamically controlled using advanced materials that do away with unnecessary panels and seams. The 2014 sails are built for one thing and one thing only – performance. Variable density yarns built into the materials allowed us to follow loads and reinforce the sail where it needs it most. Segmented luff panels in freeride sails follow loads to support significant downhaul tensions. On wave sails, the fully integrated Forceline Frame radiates from tack to clew and follows the leech into the head, holding the sail’s shape and creating a shield that can support the high loads experienced in these areas. We call it precision crafted performance. Dear water, apologies in advance.

SAIL TECHNOLOGY

Materials Technology NeilPryde sails are built tough, designed to withstand the most extreme riding conditions and the test of time. Twice the muscle and twice the endurance achieved with twin seams and ArmourWeb reinforced construction.

Custom Internal Printing Our custom printing technology allows us to print the films prior to lamination giving us the flexibility to use multi-coloured, custom graphics. The print is of minimal thickness, reducing weight and producing a higher definition of colour. During lamination the printed side is placed on the inside of the film so there is no need to worry about wear. Your sails will forever remain looking bright and fresh.

ArmourWeb ArmourWeb is constructed from full polyester lines at +/- 40 degrees, creating an interlaced, woven web for high tear resistance. (H2, Hornet, Hellcat, Fusion)

4

And the all-new, breakthrough Forceline Frame construction evenly distributes the load from tack and clew corners resulting in even tougher sails. Go as hard as you like and then some.

Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (ULTRA) This yarn has a similar breaking strength to KevlarTM, but much better UV resistance, making it a fibre of choice for this application. Use of this highstrength rip-stop grid allowed us to significantly improve durability and strength. To ensure strong multi layer lamination, the ULTRA yarns used in NeilPryde sails are treated to insure optimum bonding within the film lamination.

ArmourWeb ULTRA Variable Density Durable, high-tenacity polyester yarns at +/- 40 degrees overlaid with variable density ULTRA yarns allowing us to follow loads and reinforce the sail where it needs it most. (Combat, Atlas, TheFly, Wizard)

ClearWeb ULTRA

Twin Seams

Bi-directional, interlaced, flat yarns for the perfect balance of tear resistance and visibility.

Twice the muscle and twice the endurance. Double stitching is now used on all critical seams on all sails allowing them to endure prolonged exposure to high loads and impacts.

SAIL TECHNOLOGY

CONSTRUCTION ADVANCES 2014

Forceline Frame 2014 sail construction technology moves relentlessly forward. Forceline panels have developed from being structural reinforcements designed to work in the tack and clew of the sails and have expanded into a full sail concept where loads are now seamlessly controlled and dispersed in the entire, tack, foot, clew and leech of the sails. The foot sections of all sails are now filled entirely with two Forceline panels and the central foot panel is removed entirely. Weight is reduced, non-structural materials are removed and

replaced with load bearing yarns that are perfectly aligned with loads from the sail corners. Further, we’ve also developed new materials for 2014 with yarn directions and densities that allow us to tie in the leech and luff loads into this same concept of technical construction and load management. Forceline panels continue to be stitch free and laminated under heat and pressure and in combination with our ArmourWeb materials provide the backbone of sail strength and unmatched durability.
