ROOFING ITERATIONS

The Joppa Momma’s Farm Pavilion was designed with inspiration drawn from the longstanding tradition of shotgun houses within the community. The design underwent numerous iterations (show in the figures below), exploring different options for the roof. Ultimately, the chosen design incorporates the distinctive gable form of these houses, as well as using reclaimed wood sourced from them.

SITE

The city sits on the surface of ice created in Atlantic Ocean surrounding New York City where the Brooklyn Bridge was suspended. As the bridge fell apart, the city is built around the bridge, keeping the cities Brooklyn and Manhattan connected.

The land went through the coldest global climate imaginable covered with glacial ice from pole to pole. The average equatorial temperature turned to about -20°C (-10°F), roughly similar to present Antarcticae land went through the coldest global climate imaginable covered with glacial ice from pole to pole.

Co2 Filtration System

The nods collect outside air, which is filtered and stored in a big tank. CO2 is extracted and stored in 3 smaller tanks. Oxygen is obtained through electrolysis.

Weather Forecast and Communication Station

A central antenna surrounded by powerful computers sends and receives signals from satellites to gather weather and future habitable zone information.

Housing

The enclosed structure enables biological existence by utilizing solar and nuclear energy to transform the cold outside air into a habitable temperature.

Water Extraction

Underground water extraction plants obtain subsurface water through deep roots using ice heating. This enables in situ production of metals such as steel, aluminum, and magnesium.

Agriculture

Bio-genetic and chemical procedures enable soil formulation for sustainable glass agriculture, with metallic rods supporting optimal plant growth temperature.
