Sicily Streats

ABOUT SICILY STREATS

A delicious modern take on a staple of traditional Sicilian cuisine.

Sicily Streats pride themselves on using only the freshest and finest ingredients to create exciting and indulgent Arancini.

In case you are unaware (like Surrey Rocks photographer - who we castigated for not knowing what the food type was!) Arancini is “Italian rice balls that are stuffed, coated with breadcrumbs, deep fried and are a staple of Sicilian cuisine,” according to Wikipedia.

You can get Sicily Streats from their dedicated food truck now available for private hire, weddings and parties, or in Epsom Social (Surrey’s first Food Hall) till the end of the year.

Sicily Streats Arancini is cooked fresh to order, creating a crispy golden coating.

Based on tradition, with their own unique flavours the brand have created a tantalizing, inclusive menu that meets demand for vegetarian and vegan consumers.

All their Arancini is made from scratch. Cooking the Arancini creates a golden, crispy coating which once broken reveals an oozing risotto filling, bursting with fresh flavours. Dependent on which size you choose; cheese heaven awaits with their large burrata stuffed options.

HOW THE BRAND WAS BORN

Following years in an office environment, their charismatic owner Epsom-born Dan Parsons, decided his lunch-hour escapes to street food markets across London were the highlight of his days.

The buzz and passion in the markets were infectious and inspired him further to start his own street food business.

In June of 2021 he bought a horsebox and converted it into his new workspace and began selling Arancini, the best Arancini ever tasted. Sicily Streats was born.

OUR REVIEW

We rocked up to Sicily Streats in Epsom Social on a Monday evening and were warmly greeted by Dan and shown the impressive menu and talked through the Specials.

We were totally on board with trying their Special Dish of the Day; ‘Slow-Braised Beef Brisket Ragu with Tagliatelle’ and it was simply devine.

You could tell instantly the brisket had been tenderised from hours of slow cooking and melted in the mouth. The Ragu sauce was bursting with flavour and the fresh egg pasta tagliatelle was cooked to perfection. This dish was topped off with fresh parmesan cheese. All in all, a 10 out of 10 dish.

Next up we tried a trio of Arancini perfectly served in a cute cardboard egg box. We went for the ‘Tomato & Basil’, ‘Butternut Squash & Sage’ and ‘Carbonara’ - this is a great meal choice as you get to try the variety of options. You can also select from a 6 Ball Box or a 9 Ball Box - if you are really hungry or in larger groups.

We also had a Wild Mushroom and Burrata Large Arancini. As we tore this in half to share our reviewers pulled the Burrata cheese inside apart at least a whopping 40cm! It was so delicious and the wild mushroom was so tasty.

All of Sicily Streats Arancini come with dips including Nonna’s Pepper Sauce, Garlic Aioli and Pesto Dip, both were great and worked with the flavours of the Arancini. We can’t wait to try the Sicilian Dirty Fries and Steak on our next visit.

IN SUMMARY

With their own unique flavours and inspiring food choices, Sicily Streats have created a tantalizing, inclusive menu that meets demand for all tastes, including both vegetarian and vegan consumers. Pay them a visit, or book for a private hire, you will not be disappointed.

GASTRONOMY REVIEW FOOD TRUCK AND MORE

You can now hire Sicily Streats for private parties, weddings or events.

To date they have had successful pitches at Brighton Christmas Festival, Westminster Cathedral Christmas Market, Wimbledon Tennis Screening in Marylebone and a 3 month pop-up residency at Epsom Social. They also recently catered for Eurovision London at the Rio Private Cinema in Shoreditch. Here they catered for 400 people but they can do smaller parties with anything from 20 people.

If you need catering for a private event / party / wedding or anything else, get in touch and they’ll work with you to create a menu that you can be proud to serve to your guests. Although their Arancini is fried it is slightly more premium than your standard burger and chips and it goes down really well alongside a glass of wine, champagne or a beer.
