About Surrey Storm Performance Squad and the NPL PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE SUBMITTING YOUR TRIAL FORM To be eligible to play for Surrey Storm Performance you must be aged over 14 and under 19 at midnight on 31st December 2014/1st January 2015. The Surrey Storm Performance Squad can register up to 20 players; however we can only select 12 players for each game. The Surrey Storm Talent Squad is an elite squad, where we select on the basis of development, performance, and the right attitude. This inevitably means that some players will get more court time than others. New players can be selected and existing ones deselected into the squad of 20 at any time throughout the season. Surrey Storm are looking for players who take responsibility for their own fitness training and health, and who are able to perform for the team and as a team. Players need to be open to learning, to working incredibly hard, and putting the extra hours of training in outside of the Storm sessions. Players who fail to do this will be deselected from the squad. Outside of their Storm commitments it is expected that squad members also play netball for a suitable club where they receive regular match play and training to compliment their time at Storm. NPL players should ideally be competing in adult Regional or Premier leagues. The 2015-16 competition will commence in January and will fall, mostly, in line with the Superleague. There will be no pre-season tournament, and the majority of the games will be home and away, taking out the opening and closing weekends. In July, there will be a 3-4 day competition held at a central venue, details TBC. Travel arrangements and the cost of travelling to and from training and fixtures is the player’s responsibility. Fixtures and full training scheduled will be handed out to all selected athletes on the 29th September. Surrey Storm commitments take precedent over school fixtures and local, county and regional league fixtures for clubs. There should not be clashes between Storm and Premier League matches. In order to maintain a balance and to ensure there is an open line of communication between your club coach and Storm, players are asked to identify any clashes and provide contact details for their club coaches. As part of your membership to the squad, you will be provided with weekly high performance training alongside the NSL squad, strength and conditioning support, and physiotherapy support (only at training sessions and matches). Players are asked to contribute £175 for this. This fee also covers full training and playing kit. The fee can be paid in two installments. If you feel you can commit to the above, we invite you to trial for the Surrey Storm Performance Squad, please complete the attached trial form, you will receive email confirmation of the trial once received.
